Stephanie Alston-Nero is a traveling artist-healer-educator and chanter of sacred songs. She uses her art to heal. The Hopi Indian word for heal means return to beauty. Her mission is to restore beauty through Art and shamanic healing practices. She has studied shamanism with Malidoma Patrice Some, learning and participating in healing rituals and ceremonial practices of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso. She has also has taken part in Malidoma's Ancestralization ritual, a cosmic event that brings peace to the living and the ancestors. She is a student of Sandra Ingerman (Author of Soul Retrieval: Healing the Fragmented Self) and has taken several workshops with her in Santa Fe, New Mexico, including The Way of the Shaman, Soul Retrieval, Medicine for the Earth and Healing with Spiritual Light, and she is also in the Two-year Shamanic Teacher Training Workshop. Stephanie performs Sacred Poetry Concerts with the Sufi singer, Murshida VA, spiritually intended to transmute the wounds of slavery and oppression, and help to end suffering of all forms, for all people, in all worlds.
