Women are just as likely to initiate, and perpetrate violent acts against men, as are men to women. In several domestic violence studies, women are found to be more aggressive and more likely to use weapons and surprise in a physical altercation. It is estimated more than 38% of men incur physical injury during acts of domestic violence, perpetrated by a woman. Men however, are less likely to report violence, due to embarrassment, humiliation, and social stigma. One male stated, "I feel, if I report my wife, I will be the one who winds up in custody."

Motivation for domestic violence?!!!

(1) “he wasn’t listening to me,”

(2) “he wasn’t being sensitive to my needs,”

(3) “I wished to gain his attention,”

(4) “I wanted to get my point across.”

Self-defense is the least common motivation.
