When we Xperience emotional trauma of any type, the shock can reverberate in and throughout our thoughts and feelings for Xtended periods of time. The amount of time it takes to recover corresponds to the degree of the emotional impact and how attached the mind is to reliving what happened. Trauma taps into very deep emotional structures in the mind, and if we do not consciously develop and employ strategies to navigate the emotional landscape of our trauma, it can and will easily morph into a life-long melodrama which we act out unconsciously in both subliminal and blatant ways. As the women of SISTAH CHAT conclude our month-long series on emotional wellness, we will openly and honestly talk about some of the emotional challenges we have faced during our lifetimes and share some of the personal strategies we have developed for effectively maneuvering around, rising above and soaring beyond remaining stuck in the darkness of our despair, desperation and disappointment.
