She now lives safe, finally enjoying the peace within and helping others to recover from the trauma and emotional wounds of abuse and/or family/relationship violence. In Feb 2011 she released her true horrifying story of the twelve years of torture and disfiguring neglect during childhood. She shares with readers the many silent warning signs and signals others often disregard as a child without a voice lives daily through her nightmare.

The abandonment of those who could have and should have intervened to help this child deepened the belief that she didn’t deserve rescue or any form of human kindness. It also left her to be trained to accept these actions throughout her adult life; in a sense seeing them as ‘normal’. It was this belief and fear of rejection, along with the burdened soul of shame & blame, which kept this broken woman trapped in 20 years of repeated abusers. Those she thought would love and respect her as she did them, turned into controlling, degrading, and almost deadly attackers.

Sadly, Ms. McKnight, had children during her first marriage and those children then walked this path of terror, pain, and dysfunction along with her. Trish has seen how these generational acts of abuse and/or violence are passed into our children’s lives through the decisions and choices we make. In accepting the violence, control and degradation for all those years, she had no clue what impact it would have on her children’s lives. She finally found the courage to leave her last abuser, but not until permanent physical damage was done to her and the emotional trauma had left its scars on her children.
