Chris’ long-time friend—and ex-comrade-in-addiction—Simone joins Jeff and him in-studio on her 173rd day of recovery to share her thoughts on her recovery so far, her experiences with spectrum of XA meetings she’s now familiar with, her spirituality and much more.

With the exception of an interlude in which Chris whines about his social-anxiety and how it kept him from attending his first AA meeting ever—this is Simone’s show. And it’s great.

After recording, Simone sent me this text:

I think the "torture" of my moderation bottom, which had it's own highs and lows, got lost in what I said. I don't know that I ever really articulated that what made my bottom really suck is that I thought my using was manageable and didn't interfere with my life, which had a goodness to it, but for which underneath I suffered deeply, for years, and no matter how I grew and developed myself still plagued me.

She, and I, both think it's a point well-worth making.

The intro, Cradle, and outro, Memory. of this episode were graciously provided by musician-in-recovery DJ FM from his powerful new album Last Man Standing available on iTunes.
