It's Free Your Mind Friday!
It has been a long and exhausting week, but we finally made it to Friday!
How special is it that the next step in Egypt's journey to freedom and restoration would happen on a day most of us associate with freedom! May God continue to bless, restore and heal the people of that mighty nation!
Today we are discussing different ways to free our minds. As most of you know, I am a strong advocator of meditation. Meditation contributes to our inner and outer peace as well as freeing our minds. When we spend time releasing all of the thoughts of the day and/or the week in quite meditation, our spirit is free to experience and listen to the atmosphere around us.
As an advocate and student of intercultural studies, I thought it would be a great idea to incorporate various cultural techniques and practices into Free Your Mind Friday. AreaCode 165 after all, is a global community. And as a global community we must learn how to experience and celebrate every culture!
Today we are going to begin with Japan! The Japanese culture is such a beautiful culture. Every nuance of if seems as though it is bathed in art and beauty. There are 3 Japanese cultures that I think are worthy of exploring that will contribute to "freeing our minds".
1.) Ikabana or Kado. This is a form of floral arranging that takes you beyond the act of arranging flowers, and into a quiet and beautiful meditation experience.
2.) Bonsai! I love Bonsai trees/plants! I have 2 myself and I love spending time with them. This practice is centuries old and allows you to connect with nature on a artistic level that requires you to have a still mind in order to guide the plant into it destined design.
3.) Reiki. Reiki is a form of spiritual balance and physical healing. Dr. Oz highlighted this practice, founded in 1922 and praised the results. His wife in fact is a Reiki Master!
These practices may not resonate with you in relation to meditation, but today on AC 165 Radio, I hope to link them together so that you can see how they can benefit you on your journey in AreaCode 165!
