Pre Mastering Session Preparation Formats For Delivery: Masters should be delivered as: AIFF, WAV, or SDII files 24 OR 16 Bit 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz, or 192kHz Analog Tape: 1/4" or 1/2" Medium Of Masters: CD or DVD disc would be the ideal delivery medium and duplicate copies as back up is suggested. We do acccept hard drives compatible with Mac systems. However, programs need to be in an organized folder of its own in the proper order of the project. Proper names and spelling should already be set up within the tracks. *If masters are not delivered as requested, additional charges may apply PreMaster Audio Files: The Stereo Audio files should be exported or bounced with no: Compression/ Limiters/ Normalizers/ EQ/ Maximizers on the Master Buss Reference copies delivered from the engineer to you for listening purposes can have these processors to monitor with but pre master files delivered to a mastering facility should NOT have these on the master buss. Also, a little headroom should be available with no clips or overs. *If files are not delivered as requested, we can NOT ensure optimum results Compressing and Limiting the stereo buss can cause masters to behave extra sensitive, sound saturated and distorted. Proper steps have to be taken in the mastering process IE: the stereo panning and balance needs to be corrected before any compression can take place. If a file has been compressed or limited, we can not adjust the Left and Right balancing afterwards. Vinyl Mastering Preperation: For files to be cut onto lacquer master discs, the following information should be included: Side A program order and specify 33rpm or 45rpm Side B program order and specify 33rpm or 45rpm Maxtrix number to be enscribed on discs Plating company that masters will be sent to: address, contact, shipping info Vinyl Art templates can be aquired on our website www.thresholdsound.com under mastering services

My people we must continue to stand as one. For as you all know it is together that we are most powerful. It was together that our people fought, went to jail, and even died for our sake. So it is now more than ever that we must stand taller than ever, and keep the fight that they started alive." "

This desire to share intimate future experiences with another human being has allowed societies to develop methods to seek and test compatibility amongst potential mates. In some countries, these relationships are not left to chance and are arranged through a complex series of events in which parents and elders in the community select two possible matches and arrange the marriage. If the two parties agree, then they will embark on a life long journey with someone they have little or no knowledge of. The objective is to grow with each other and to develop love slowly as time progresses. In such societies, the communities are involved in such relationships and the couple is never alone to work out any differences that will ultimately come about in the marriage.
Here in the United States, we do not have such communities that act as a support network for couples and families. Our marriages are not arranged, so we go through a process called dating. Dating is a method for selecting a potential life-partner through a process of elimination. The term dating comes from the fact that two interested parties picked a calendar date in the future so they can have experiences in which to further get to know each other. Through these series of “dates,” the potential mates can determine if they are compatible enough to embark on a more committed relationship to determine if the other person is worthy of marriage.
Because this process is not culturally formalized within American society, each process is different for each potential couple. Most Americans do not even realize that dating is the first step in looking for a husband or wife. For some, it is simply a social activity in which they do not have any intentions on looking for a life partner. This is where I think lies a great bulk of the many relationship problems here in the United States. If you are not looking for a husband or wife, then you should not be dating.
Because people date with no long term goals in mind, they often wander aimlessly hoping that they will better understand what it is they want and need with each person they date: which ultimately leads to a long list of ex’s and sexual partners. Some even hopelessly imagine that they will get everything they desire in one mate. Since American relationships are not formalized, couples are left to figure out on their own how this thing works. When I say formalized, I mean in the context of a rite of passage for young teenagers in which they are taught the finer points of intimate human relationships: its purpose, its challenges, how to work through rough patches, how to raise children, sexual obligations and “strategies” when engaged with your partner, the handling of finances, protection of the family, etc.
Because of this lack of community and a systematized rite of passage, and if we do not have a successful working example at home (which most Americans do not), we are left to search for answers through novels, web articles, movies, Dr. Phil and Oprah. A lot of Americans get their ideas about relationships from poetry, romance novels and film. Although these mediums can provide great information about relationships, more often than not they are rooted in fantasy (an expansive imagination) more so than in reality.
Our objective then becomes to date an “idea” instead of a “human being.” We get caught up in dating an idea of what we “think” a person is supposed to be, instead of seeking to understand this person AS a human being and how we can TOGETHER work to become more perfect human beings. Again, because we did not have a formalized introduction into relationships, the majority of Americans have no clue as to how to deal with rough patches, or perceived flaws, and we have become very “relationship lazy.”
Relationships are work: period. And if you can’t deal with small rough patches while dating, how can you expect to survive anyone’s marriage? Our relationships are now rooted in the illusion of romance in which we expect our mate to be everything to us and flawless from the time we meet them. We were too focused on the FLESH and never sought out the BONES.
In her book The Spirit of Intimacy, Sobonfu Some talks about this illusion of romance and how it destroys relationships. On page 96 she states:
Romantic love is an attraction that cuts off spirit and community, leaving two people to invent a relationship by themselves. It is the opposite of a relationship that lets spirit be the guide. Romance ignores all the stages of a spiritual coming together, where we begin at the bottom of the mountain and gradually travel in unison to the top. It does not leave room for the true identity of the people involved to show through. It fosters anonymity and forces people to masquerade. (Emphasis mine)
This speaks to the notion that because people are attracted to the “idea” more so than the person, we have a warped sense of expectations from the other mate. Because modern relationships aren’t based on the notion of two spirits coming together “at the bottom of the mountain and gradually traveling in unison to the top,” no one puts in any effort to maintain the relationship. Any signs of discomfort, and we are ready to split.
We try to match our mate with all of the characters we saw in movies, read in novels and heard at a poetry show. Instead of dating THIS person, we are still dating ALL of those past relationship mates, including all of the people we dreamt up as our ideal. We were attracted to the appearance of the person (the flesh) and never bothered to look at the bones (the skeletons in the closet).
Usually skeletons are associated with hidden secrets which are usually considered bad. I argue that skeletons aren’t necessarily bad, but represent the deeper characteristics that shape a human being, like how bones give us our general shape. Our “bones” are shaped by our experiences and decisions we’ve made in the past. If you plan on dating a human being, then you will ultimately have to accept these bones as they are a part of this person.
For the African (and I profess to be one), the human being consists of 3 parts: the flesh, bones and the soul. The flesh represents the idea of the human being. This is what we want to project to the public, our covering. This is what we “dress-up” to look a certain way so we can be perceived in a certain manner.
The bones represent a collection of experiences that really speak to who we really are. It is what we protect the most so we don’t appear to be vulnerable to avoid other human beings from taking advantage of us. Some of our bones may reveal sex addiction, alcoholism, commitment issues, no sense of self, lack of spirituality, an orientation towards materialism, a lack of faith, a lack of focus, a lack of a sense of purpose and a host of other ills. But bones also represent our strengths.
Often times we expect our mate to accept our bones, but we ourselves are not willing to accept our mate’s bones. Instead of being a person of character, a person willing to help sort those bones out together with love, we use them as an excuse to abandon the relationship and “wish” for greener pastures. If the good drastically out weighs the bad, then what in your bones is preventing you from putting in the necessary work to maintain the relationship? Now don’t get me wrong, some bones I don’t think people need to deal with: like physical abuse for instance. But most things couples bicker over are minuscule in the grand scheme of things and are only realized as such with maturity.
Human beings are spiritual entities embedded with strengths and weaknesses. The ideal situation is to partner up with someone whose strengths are your weaknesses, and vice versa. A relationship is a teaming up of two souls who seek wholeness and who realize that they cannot go about strengthening their weaknesses alone. A power couple is a couple that understands this concept and has agreed that no matter what, we are here to help each other fulfill our respective purpose together and we aim to see this thing through.
If we understood that all human beings have “bones,” and that a relationship is a spiritual journey where two individuals gradually work their way from the bottom of the mountain to the top, then we can better accept each other’s flaws and can together develop strategies in which we can strengthen our individual bones so we can have a strong, healthy, unified body when we reach the top. From this shall our souls be one.

Esodus: Internal Reflections and Conversations with the Sun is a personal anthology that speaks to the heart of contemporary African ontological philosophy.
Inspired by classical African meta-physics, Asar Imhotep (aka The Black Lotus) has compiled a compelling collection of essays and poetry that reflects his insights and perspectives on various issues, including the relevance of Satan, the error in obtaining freedom, the conceptual conductivity of the human body, the importance of emotions during a rite of passage, and the self-destructive nature of allowing your enemy to become your deity.
Asar introduces to us a poetic discourse that is deeply rooted in an ethnopoetics whose tradition has heavily influenced the art of our time, such as Hip Hop. The themes range widely from the metaphysical (I am that I am), to the bliss of love (Let me love you), to the power of self-affirmation (I’m so Black), to the pure indulgence in classic word wizardry (Still not convinced). Esodus: Internal Reflections and Conversations with the Sun is sure to inspire you to think big, think often, think critically, and expand the boundaries of your imagination
