Thirty eight years ago today the legendary Irna Phillips passed away.  She was a mentor to the Grand Dame of ABC Soaps – Agnes Nixon.  Tonight we celebrate the spirit of the Holidays with a look back at Irna’s contributions to the soap industry.  We’ll then discuss what we can do as a movement to insure that Agnes Nixon gets to see for herself that her legacies are as important to us as they are to her and her family!

Since the ABC announcement of the cancellation of AMC and OLTL, soap fans have been on an emotional roller coaster with cancellation, pick up, abandonment and now uncertainty.  Tonight we discuss the events and evolution of soap emotions since April 14^th.  And in laying out the sequence of events we hope that more soap fans will come to realize what all this misinformation and hype is really about!

As we head into the New Year Soapers have a mission – to celebrate a genre in danger of extinction by proving their value and demand.  We’ve had a tumultuous few years in the soap fan base.  It’s time to shake things up and make things right!  It begins with creating a better image for ourselves and supporting all of those who work in the genre.  We’re looking forward to robust conversation and a special night!  Join the chat, call in or just listen.  Let’s hear YOUR voice!
