A Guiding Light Kind of Night

This is going to be a show chock full of “stuff”!  And tonight is a TWO HOUR SHOW!  First, we will begin by celebrating Week #3 of the GLOBE coupon campaign!  Like it or not, ABC/Disney is just beginning to discover that this movement continues to gain momentum despite rumor bombs, GH promotions or providing a juror a trip to Disney World.  The truth is we agree with ABC.  The three soaps on ABC Daytime deserve a new home where they will be welcomed and encouraged to thrive in a creative environment.

Then we will explore the creativity of soaps.  Just what is it about soap opera which keeps us coming back?  We welcome Jill Lorie Hurst, former Associate Head Writer on the classic soap Guiding Light.  Jill has worked with some of the best in the business and is an Emmy Award winning writer at a time when a Daytime Emmy Award actually MEANT SOMETHING!  We’re going to explore soap opera from a writer’s perspective and we will delve into just how effective the genre is in being an educational tool.  We’ll explore soap history, where she thinks the citizens of Springfield would be today and her perceptions on how the genre is changing.

We’ll catch up un the latest soap campaigns: Cat Trumps All Campaign; the Michael E Knight DTWS movement and the second campaign to secure a spot for Colleen Zenk on DWTS as well!  And we’ll close the show with our suggestions on how to handle the incredible flood of malware/viruses which have affected so many soap fans in the last 20 days.  We have some ideas we want to share!
