Bishop Sheen has been and always will be one of my favorite teachers of the Gospel. He was an outstanding speakers of all time. I saw him on television live on New York City television when I was just a child and he hooked me on Jesus and Holy Spirit and I had never been to any church yet! I learned how much God loved me then and even to today he uses the Holy Spirit to call sinners to Jesus Christ. I thank God for Bishop Sheen!

It is on the day of the dedication of a basilica in honor of St. Michael in the northeastern part of Rome during the 5th century, that we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Angels. "Their splendor shows us your greatness, which surpass in goodness the whole of creation." Scripture mentions but briefly the archangels Michael and Gabriel, and speaks of Raphael only in the Book of Tobit. In the NT, Gabriel is the messenger who announced the birth of John the Baptist and that of Jesus, while Michael appears at the head of the heavenly hosts, the conqueror of satan in the great battle of the endtime. From the paradise of Genesis to that of revelation, however, the angels fill the entire span of history of salvation with their invisible presence. They are the Lord's "angels" or messengers, revealing his designs and carring out his commands. Above all, they sing his praises, an immense host of adorers seen by Daniel and John around the throne of living God. "Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him, and myriads upon myriads attended him." (First Reading from Daniel) BLESS THE LORD, ALL YOU HIS ANGELS, MIGHTY IN POWER, YOU OBEY HIS WORD AND HEED THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE. (Ps.102:20) God our Father, in a wonderful way you guide the work of angels and men. May those who serve you constantly in heaven keep our lives safe from all harm on earth. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy spirit, one God, for ever and ever. MICHAEL AND HIS ANGELS BATTLED AGAINST THE DRAGON... Lord,
hear the prayers of those you renew with the bread of life. Made strong by the courage it gives, and under the watchful care of the angels, may we advance along the way of salvation. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
Michael means "who is like God." Gabriel means the "strength of God." Raphael means the "healing of God." Whenever something wondrous goodness is to be done, Michael is brought forward to be sent. By Michael's being sent we understand through this very act and name that no one is able to do what God is capable of doing. The ancient enemy, who through pride desired to be like God, said, "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit in the mountains of the assembly, in the hiding places in the north, I will ascend above the height of the clouds, I will be like the Most High." At the end of the world, when he is left to his own strength, the ancient enemy is to be destroyed by dreadful punishment when the archangel Michael is brought forward to do battle with him. So John said, "War was made with the Archangel Michael," so that those who exalt themselves to the likeness of God through pride might learn, after having been destroyed by Michael, that no one is lifted up to a likeness of God by pride. Gabriel, who is named the strength of God, was sent to Mary. Gabriel came to announce the one who was worthy to appear with humility to conquer the powers of the lower air. There, through the "strength of God" the Lord of goodness was announced, coming powerful in battle against the powers of the lower air; ie: "Lift up your gates, you rulers, and be raised up you eternal gates, and the King of glory will enter. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and powerful, the Lord powerful in BATTLE..." As I said above, Raphael is interpreted as the healing of God,since when he touched the eyes of Tobias as if performing a service for healing, he wiped away the darkness of his blindness. The one sent to cure Tobias was therefore certainly worthy to be called "the healing of God." But since we touched upon interpreting the names of angels above... --excerpt from homily of St. Gregory the Great
