    "Heroes in the Church"

"God alone, content with all my weak efforts, will raise me to Himself, and make me a Saint."                                                                                                 St. Therese of Lisieux

Yes, the world's accelerated downward slide from the 19th century of Charles Dickens to today s undeniable.  Mankind as driven the cart down the road of total demise, becoming saturated with secularism and moral disorder--and embracing the attack on life itself....But though Dickens probably would not have imagined that it could get mcuh worse, it somehow has.  The most mysterious variable in all of this is time.  For time keeps marching forward, recording each generation's escalating sorrows and glories with no end in sight.
Scholars say that most of today's problems took root more than 400 years ago during the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment.  This period saw the philosophical beginnings of secularism take hold.  Secularism is the belief that reality should be determined without reference to religious systems.  At the intellectual level, it becomes rationalism, and at the level of life, it becomes humanism....con't.
