Drop It as if it were Hot

    Hebrews 12:1
    Read This Chapter

<b><i>Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,</i></b>

When I was much younger I always liked to race my brother Elliott. Now of course , he was a much faster runner than I, but that never stopped me from trying. One day he presented me with the ultimate challenge. We decided to race from the top of our street to the bottom. On this particular day, I wanted to win more than I wanted to do anything in my entire life.

After much practice and anticipation, the big day finally came. We each had our <i>fans</i> watching with eager anticipation (sisters, brothers and neighborhood kids). I was sure that I was gonna win. I had practiced with my sisters and friends. I even had my ankle weights still in place. I just "knew" I would win since I had the 5 lb weights still on each ankle. After all, these were the exact ones that the professional atheletes wore to train.

On your mark...get set...go! I could hear my sisters and other girls in the neighborhood cheering me on. Inspite of my honest attempt to win, Elliott zoomed right past me like a bat out of hell. He was running like he had stolen something. Before I could do anything to help myself, Elliott had already made it to the finish line. <b>HE Won, He won!</b>

It wasn't until after the race that I learned the greatest lessen of winning a race. Whoever said
hindsight is 20/20 is correct. Looking back over that <i><b>"Big Race"</b></i> I learned that in order to win a race, you must drop any weight or anything that will easily beset you. In other words , if you want to win at anything in life you must "drop it as if it were hot".

Yes, to win a race, you must let go of whatever is holding you back. I don't know about you ladies...but I want this year to be my best year. I will not allow those same old habits, thoughts, or people, to hinder me from being all God created me to become. I am making a committment for one year to dedicate myself to the pursuit of living with Divine Purpose.

As we embark upon 2009, let us unite as a community of strong , fierce and fabulous women and help each other to win the race that God has set before each of us.

<i><b>COMMITT TO STEPPING OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!</b></i>
