"Sistah to Sister" Yes we Can heal our relationships

During his campaign for presidency, Barack Obama's mantra became the great message of hope for all who listened as he passionately made his plea . Inspite of the down slopping economy, a war that is still being fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, he kept repeating..."YES WE CAN!" This message brought with it hope that we as American's have not felt or expressed in a very long time. It was a message that somehow, through all of the despair of what is  still happening around...Yes..We Can as Americans rebuild what has been torn down in our country

In thinking of what this message means to me, I sought out to begin a conversation that is long over due in our country. It is the proverbial "elephant" in the room that everyone seems to ignore. Yes...you guessed it-RACE. Though we have managed as a nation to put a man on the moon, steadily making advancing in medicine to cure some of the most serious diseases, we still as a nation, have not completely healed from the stinch of racism.

In following my quest on this year of helping empower women to be fierce and fabulous, I have invited some dynamic women from different racial groups to engage in a candid conversation about what it actually means to have our first African American President and First Lady. The guest on the panel are Kathleen Felker Schott for Libitz, PA, Lashel Anderson, from Arlington, TX, Kim Altoonian Koss from North Augusta, SC and Alicia Plant from Douglasville, Georgia.I am excited to have this fine group of intelligent spirited women on this panel of discussion.

While this is exciting news for me, there are still some people who are most uncomfortable with the idea. I believe this show will reveal my gut instinct of the true fabric of America. We are stronger than any weakness that tries to divide us. We are a great nation of strong capable people who are hopeful of the future. Yes WE CAN!
