As promised, Shift Shapers is revisiting the work of Baltimore Green Currency and its success as a local alternative to the usual money.
Dos semanas pasadas empesamos una programa acerca de las maneras alternativas al dinero tracidional. La emfasis de esta programa es para preparamos parra la nueva economia
We posted this interview with Jeff Dicken about Baltimore Green Currency a few weeks ago, but this time Co-host Evelina Molina has added some Spanish commentary to introduce the concept of alternative local currencies.
Local currencies keep money in th elocal economy since they are honored primarily by local businesses, rather than being spent at large out of town big box stores.
Just as local food and energy production are critical in shaping our shift to the post-carbon, post-convenience world, local currencies form the basis of trade when shaping the shift into our new communities.
This is a bilingual program - Opening commentary is in Spanish-English, with the interview conducted in English.
This post will be revised in the near future, more fully translated into Spanish.
