    The Voice of Change, hosted by Sharon Ann Wikoff, welcomes the Veggie Queen, Jill Nussinow. The topic is Eating: Choices for Personal and Planetary Health. Jill is a Registered Dietitian, culinary educator, cookbook author and writer who inspires people to include more vegetable and plant foods in their diet. During the program Jill will talk about the many food choices one needs to make on a regular basis. She'll share her view on food in a new way, and how one's food choices affects one's body, health and the environment. For example, is it better to eat locally raised, grass fed beef or quinoa imported from South America, or do you need superfruits or will strawberries do? She will help listeners weigh and prioritize these choices to figure out which are the best foods to eat.

    The Voice of Change welcomes Reverend Billy. Rebecca Valentine, sustainability visionary, will host this program with me. Seeing that we are entering a time of high consumerism, Reverend Billy will be speaking on: BUY NOTHING DAY! This is of course, in direct conflict with The Biggest Shopping Day of the Year, the day after Thanksgiving. Reverend Billy and the Life After Shopping Gospel Choir believe that Consumerism is overwhelming our lives. The corporations want us to have experiences only through their products. Our neighborhoods, "commons" places like parks and streets and libraries, are disappearing into the corporatized world of big boxes and chain stores. So we are singing and preaching for local economies and real – not mediated through products – experience. We like independent shops where you know the person behind the counter or at least –you like them enough to share a story. Rev. Billy directs a New York based arts organization using theater, humor, and grassroots organizing to advance individuals and communities towards a more equitable future - starting today. Rev. Billy's organization partners with citizens, grassroots organizations and progressive visionaries to produce dynamic, informed public campaigns that enact our core values - participatory democracy, ecological sustainability, and the preservation of vibrant communities and local economies. His message--consuming less--is the single most effective and immediate response an individual can take to immediately halting the climate crisis. This same message has reached millions of people and has contributed to the public's increasing awareness of the relationship between shopping and climate change. This program will be LIVE on Monday, 6:00 PM PST. With cesarean section rates of 30-50% across the USA, major abdominal surgery has become a scary and all too frequent mode of 'birthing'. The US is the the only country that has trained surgeons attending birthing women. Medical personnel seem to be oblivious to the emotional, psychological, somatic and spiritual effects of cesarean section. I will speak to these 'hidden' trauma's from the baby's viewpoint, and about the serious effects of cesarean section on family bonding.
