Dorian Gregory & Other Celebs Support Kiva's Labor Day Weekend Event

Saturday, September 5, 2009 The Kiva organization and the Clevelander have partnered to host one of the hottest events with a social cause to close out the 2009 summer in South Beach.

Kiva is an organization that allows people to lend money to microfinance institutions in developing countries in the United States & around the world, which in turn lend the money to small businesses.

This sizzling all day soiree will be held at the newly renovated Clevelander 1080 Ocean Drive, South Beach from 1pm-5am. Hosted by Tyson Beckford, former beauty pageant title holder and co-host on the Jamie Foxx Sirus talk show “The Foxhole” Claudia Jordan, Michael Copon, of Blue Ranger and Oak Tree Hill fame, and “Deal or No Deal” model Leyla Milani, this day promises to be filled with cocktails, entertainment and an opportunity to help foster employment and fight against global poverty.

Kiva is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization headquartered in San Francisco, supported by donations from its users and through partnerships with businesses and other institutions. On June 10, 2009, Kiva announced the enabling of loans to small business in the United States, the first developed country selected by Kiva. Over 543,000 "lenders" have discovered Kiva as a way to fight global poverty in a direct, connected, and sustainable way with over 86 million dollars to date.”
