SGN Radio, Tuesday, May 25th, 2010, 2 PM (EST) http://www.shadesofgreennetwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=163&Itemid=208 About This Week's Show The BP Gulf oil spill is hurting fragile ecosystems, wildlife, and the environment at large. But wait, there's more...for only 2 million gallons of oil a day, we'll throw in the entire Gulf fishing industry, a multi-billion dollar Gulf coast - (maybe even the East coast) tourist industry, and a big bottle of Dawn liquid dish soap in case BP's CEO gets too greasy for congress to touch. What does all this mean for the green economy? Is it good, or is it bad? Will it be a wake-up call for the world, or just another quickly forgotten newspaper seller? Join us and find out. Ah yes, country music at its best. I listened while enjoying the smell of burning diesel at the beach. Don't you just love that? Now you too can enjoy a spectacular view of the largest beach bonfire fish-cookout right from the comfort of your very own oil-slicked beach chair. But perhaps there is hope. Yesterday, John Kerry and Joe Lieberman (of all people) introduced the American Power Act in the senate. It does still call for more offshore drilling, but at least it puts the decision to do so in the hands of the states. And it truly makes the green economy a real focus. Heck, even Fred Krupp, E.D. of EDF says it's cool and was one of the key creators. This week's guests, Dena Mottola Jaborska, Doug O'Malley, and Matt Elliott of Environment New Jersey talk about how New Jersey and other coastal states can deal with all this sticky stuff.
