VA Homeless Veteran Outreach Initiative to Kick Off in Chicago
CHICAGO, IL -Professional Chicago sports players and more than 70 community, government and faith-based organizations will join the Department of Veterans Affairs in kicking off a huge initiative to end homelessness among Veterans in the Chicago area once and for all, on Wednesday, October 12th at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Kizer Conference Room, at 10:30 a.m. VA’s Under Secretary for Health, Dr. Robert Petzel, will be speaking at the event, as will Chicago Bulls and Bears players. Two formerly homeless Veterans will also be present to tell their stories.
“VA’s goal is to end homelessness among Veterans,” said Sharon Helman, Hines Hospital Director. “For the first time, we are going to unite all the relevant agencies and individuals on One Team and develop a specific “game plan” to get our nation’s heroes in Chicago and the surrounding communities off the street.”
