The public is waking to the reality of global climate change, given the fact that industry is acknowledging the costs of failing to deal with it now. However, even those who accept its reality have a psychological block against seeing that a massive die off of humans is all but inevitable as a result. 

Climate change limits how long we have to stop the madness of the current world system and find a way to save humanity from itself, but there is an inherent limit on how long we can continue to consume the Earth's resources at the current rate, let alone one that would result from helping other nations reach their economic potential. This is the population bomb that is ticking while Westerners fret about their declining standard of living. Until we deal with this, that is also unavoidable.

The implication of all this is that that it will lead to draconian methods of government control of a restive world population unless we unite to find our own solution democratically.
