In the wake of 9/11, America has beome a surveillance society. Americans seem largely willing to continue to give up their freedoms for the illusion of security from a terrorist menace of their own government's creation. This would not have happened if they knew the truth behind 9/11 and all that has followed.

Standing between the government and the People are the whistleblowers who have worked in government and who risk their careers, freedom and even their lives to get the truth out and hold government responsible for its actions.

On December 8 our guest was  Coleen Rowley, FBI whistleblower and dedicated antiwar activist. We talked about the role of government whistleblowers in assuring the survival of the dream of democracy in America, and the efforts by those in control of the US government to prevent that at any costs.

Bradley Manning is an American hero, as is Daniel Elsberg and countless men and women most Americans have never heard of. If they are to protect us, we must demand that they be protected. Otherwise, our children will continue to be sacrificed for corporate Empire and we will lose the chance to even know democracy in America or the world.

SFPI Radio is the international talk show designed to allow those struggling for social justice around the world to talk to each other about how we can support efforts to promote justice, democracy and peace in every nation.
