At the start of the debate on reforming health care in 2009, 70-80% of Americans stated the supported universal health care. However, when it cam to details, the corporate media and politicians argued that we cannot afford such a system.

What neither Party admited was that they were unwilling to risk angering corporate backers in the medical-industrial complex, particularly the medical insurance industry that ended up virtually writing the legislation that brought them millions of new customers at taxpayers' expense.

The result was a bailout of a medical insurance system that was on the brink of pricing itself out of existence. The only fact you need to understand why we have to have a universal health care system if we want any system at all is this: projections are that at current rates, the cost of a family medical plan will equal average family income by 2025.
