PEOPLES CONGRESS WITH JOHN MULKINS

On June 15 our guest on Take Back America for the People was John Mulkins, Founder of Peoples Congress, an ambitious attempt to create a representative body outside of government that will debate and propose legislation on the issues that Congress will not.

Originally planned to take place in July in Washington DC, it remains to be seen when the original vision will be realized. However, the groundwork has been laid to create a "shadow" government answerable to the people who elect delegates rather than the corporations whose ability to pay for campaigns of members of Congress has undermined democracy in America.

We discussed the vision behind the project and the ways in which the process of creating a representative body can influence decisions make in Washington. Democracy depends on  We the People finding common ground to solve the problems that affect us all. A forum like the Peoples Congress can provide us with the means to come together and have the discussions our elected officals will not. The lessons John has learned along the war should be instructive for all who hope to see a unified movement to create a functioning democracy on the US.
