On Saturday, July 30 we discussed  the means to create a single payer, Medicare-for-All system of universal health care in the United States. Our guest had some technical difficulties and did not call in until 40 minutes into the show but had some great input.

OHSU medical student Allen Andrews is an active member of the student chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program in Portland, Oregon. He also heads a film project that illuminates the problems that only a single payer system will address.

Technical difficulties caused dead air early in the second hour. Check out the following to hear just how deep we got into the conversation and call in to SFPI Radio live on the worldwide internet in coming weeks to tell us what YOU think.

Reverend Martin Luther King Jr once stated that of all injustices, injustice in health care is the most shocking. Only a fascist nation would deny health care to all citizens. The United States is unique among industrialized western countries in allowing health care to be treated as a commodity.

The fascist nature of the American government was made plain during the bailout of the medical insurance industry under the guise of "health care reform." The only path to single payer is to end corporate control of the US government, which is also the way to end war.
