Born March 30,1981, Jacqueline 'Passionate Poet' Halmon was the first born. Spending the first years of her life in California, she had dreams of being a child star, writing songs and different lyrics to pass the time and practicing with friends. Jacqueline entered a poetry contest in the 6th grade, which she won, and was able to read it in front of the school. This became the birth of a poet. At the age of thirteen, Jacqueline's family relocated to Muskegon, Michigan, and her love for writing grew. Jacqueline also indulged in playing the piano, singing in the choir, and attending drama classes through her school years. It was just her and her words. Every now and then she would let her friends listen and they would tell her how good she was, and that she should do something with her talent. In the spring of 2008 her city was sponsoring a poetry contest. Friends and family talked her into competing. She defeated 13 other poets to become the winner. A year later, she met D'ericka Nichols, who saw her performance and wanted her to be apart of a poetry group she wanted to form. That's when THE PASSIONATE POET was born. She became the fourth founding member of (W)ORDS (O)UT (L)OUD (P)OET (S)OCIETY, better known as WOLPS. The Passionate Poet expresses herself through spoken word specializing in passion, pain, and erotic pleasure. Performing every month at her group's open mic has helped her improve her craft, giving her oppotunities to perform at other events and share the same mic with famous poets like BLACK ICE from Def Poets. Still perfecting her gift, she is working on a book that will consist of short stories mixed with poetry based on true life events. JACQUELINE'S PLAN IS TO TURN HER CANTS INTO CANS AND HER DREAMS INTO PLANS. Join us Saturday at 8 pm EST as we get to know the woman behind the pen and the mic. And tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend about us! See you Saturday!
