Breast Cancer Treatment: Update Part 2

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In our second part of the series on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, join us as we discuss breast cancer treatment options with Dr. Heidi Rafferty, breast surgeon at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Also joining the panel is Dr. David Weintritt, a breast surgeon who practices at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. He has specializes in minimally invasive breast procedures, genetic testing and partial breast radiation.  Dr. Weintritt is the PI for a very exciting launch at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.  Xoft Intra Operative Radiation Therapy is being introduced to the Washington DC region offering patients a one day breast cancer radiation treatment with this technology. Ms. Lisa Bowles, manager of Sentara's Dorothy G. Hoefer Comprehensive Breast Center on the Peninsula, will discuss Radiation Seed Localization and her recent missions trip to India where she shared information to help teach mammography and bone density protocols and practices.
