When women are beaten, children raped and both dying as a result, what can be done to stop it? What can be done to help those victims become survivors that thrive? Our guest is Patricia Melnice.
Patricia Melnice, Tough Angels
Patricia Melnice is the founder and CEO of Tough Angels, a Colorado-based non-profit whose mission is to help put a stop to violence and rape in Africa, protect the survivors, and help the rape victims to heal and thrive. She started it after spending 6 months on a volunteer mission in South Africa, helping the victims and watching them needlessly die.
In South Africa, a woman, infant or child is raped every 17 seconds. A girl is more likely to be raped than she is to learn to read and write. Their society is largely indifferent to crimes committed against women and children. And Tough Angels wants to help change that reality.
