Thee most important aspect of any society modern or not is how it feeds itself.  We as a modern society have had the luxury of being separated from the basic necessities of human life.  Only 5% of the population is needed to grow all of our food, so the rest of us are free to focus on other stuff.

Same as everything, we have decided to leave the nutritional education up to school "experts" who have essentially been in charge of our nation's diet for decades.  Students are taught what to eat through school meals and university cafeterias, so the results should tell us how this has turned out for us?

Well it doesn't take much digging around to find that the U.S. has some of the worse dieting practices of any planet on earth and our health suffers for it.

Why is it that so many people are turning to alternative sources of information for dieting information and practices, but so willingly gives up their children to the schools to learn the same practices they have transcended as adults.  I thought schools were the best, or is it that self-awareness and self-education takes precedence over institutionalized educaion?
