Richard Cheu is a former neurophysiologist, Emergency Medical Technician, stress-management consultant and author. An ordained deacon and hospital chaplain in New York City, he provides pastoral counseling at Bellevue Hospital, the Visiting Nurse Service inpatient hospice, and the Mary Manning Walsh Home.

As a neurophysiologist and adjunct professor, he taught courses in human physiology to medical, nursing and healthcare students. He has taught at the University of Oregon Medical and Nursing Schools, William Paterson University, Brookdale Community College, Riverview Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital Center. He also received a U.S.. Patent for a computerized method for improving visual performance. For 12 years in New Jersey, he was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responding to more than three thousand emergency calls. He has conducted stress management courses and seminars for clients such as AT&T, Prudential Insurance, various federal agencies, and at Bellevue Hospital.
