SORT BY Relevancy
George Zimmeran has been found Not Guilty of second-degree murder and man-slaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin a 17 year old black teenager. Reactions appear to be somewhat mixed. Many people are outraged, disappointed, hurt, sadden, and prayerful. Some people have come forth to express their approval for the outcome believing the law was upheld and justice prevailed.
So what’s your opinion? Was George Zimmeran’s killing of Trayvon Martin, self-defense based on the “stand your ground law”? Or was there something to indicate Zimmerman encountered and shot young Trayvon Martin with malicious intent? Is the “stand your ground” law unjust by providing a legal means for vigilantes to become judge, jury and executioner on the street? Is your opinion of the outcome based on symphathy for the plight of young African American Men? Or conversely, are you relieved, knowing that justice prevails for those defending themselves from injury or death?
In instances of polarizing issues such as this, both sides cannot be right. But, both sides can be wrong. So the final question becomes how does one even begin to determine which perspective is correct?
