"Starter Wives Confidential" star Zakia Baum stopped by Ice Cream Convos radio for a fantastic, fun, and empowering convo you don't want to miss. Zakia kept it raw and uncut as she talked about her relationship with Maino (who she shares an adorable son with) as well as what eventually tore them apart. Yes, we spilled Lil Kim's tea too. Zakia also opened up about the loss of her siblings and how her son saved her family during their difficult time. Of course, we had to discuss TLC shenanigans and get Zakia's thoughts on why "Starter Wives Confidential" was snatched off of the airwaves, as well as her relationship with Josie and the big fight! The most amazing part of the interview was hearing Zakia share her personal testimony about her relationship with God and how it's changed her life. Zakia also shares a powerful message for women you don't want to miss.

The Wizard of Oz is a story that was much beloved long before the epic production that remains in our hearts always. Here's the scene of meeting the cowardly lion the first time.
What does the movie tell us psychologically about ourselves, our wishes, and dreams? There were wonderful instances of symbolism portrayed in the film that doesn't take a professional to interpret as we see Dorothy and her ranch hands shift to an alternate reality.
This movie truly affected people's imaginations and wonder. I have met people over the years who swore that the movie was only in black and white! One year I rented the reel to reel and a projector from the Seattle Public Library, made up a bunch of popcorn and showed the movie to the children in the neighborhood where I was living. The first reel everything was in a type of black & white Sepia antique color, but the second reel was totally in brilliant color as Dorothy left the farmhouse in Oz. Think about what that says about "real" life versus our imaginations, which are taken to be be much more colorful and amazing than Midwestern farm life!
Join us for a wonderful talk about the psychology behind this brilliant movie along with the reasons the movie remains ageless and beloved, which it most likely will remain long after we're all gone and dead.
