Like many before him, South Carolina native Ricky Young traveled a long and winding road to Nashville. As a former University of South Carolina alum and baseball player, he spent five years after college in the minor leagues, playing gigs anywhere he could find a stage and the time.
If there is a “correct way” to come to Nashville, Young is textbook. He has established himself as a student of the craft of songwriting, securing coveted co-writes with Zac Brown Band, Lee Brice, Dave Gibson, Steven Williams and Stephen Allen Davis. He earned the respect of Nashville because of his pointed, damn-near-perfect lyrics.
Young’s first single “Could You Love Me Again” hit radio in February of 2013, and his army of fans have been buzzing about it for months. His YouTube channel has over a million views, the video for “Could You Love Me Again” went viral, garnering 100,000 views in its first week. Young’s next single “I Carry It With Me” is a duo with fellow Carolina crooner and long time friend Lee Brice, and is set to release in early next year.
This year, Young is releasing his follow-up EP, "Feels Damn Good," and is touring the southeast/midwest. The first single release on the EP is "Baby Wussup," a feel-good summer song featuring Bubba Sparxx that was released April 1, 2014. "Baby Wussup" and the other tracks on Feels Damn Good were written by Young and he feels his true affliction and creative style in music is breaking through in this album.

The NL Central has come calling for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are trying to recover from a terrible losing streak to get back in playoff position. City of Champions co-editors Matt Gajtka, Larry Snyder and Zac Weiss return to discuss how the Bucs can do just that on this week's Three Rivers...One Show, the flagship program on CoC Radio. Who needs to raise their performance level for the Pirates to take advantage of crucial games against the Brewers and Cardinals? Why do they always seem to suffer through a slump at this time of the year? Are their playoff hopes already cooked? Meanwhile, the Steelers suffered through a beating at the hands of the Eagles in their third preseason game. What has stood out so far in exhibition play, good or bad?
City of Champions co-editors Matt Gajtka, Larry Snyder and Zac Weiss join forces for the latest episode of Three Rivers...One Show, the flagship program on City of Champions Radio. The up-and-down Pittsburgh Pirates are the primary topic again this week, as they attempt to stay in playoff contention despite missing key players due to injury. What is a reasonable expectation for this team as they continue a difficult stretch in their schedule? How should we assess their performance without Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker and Gerrit Cole? Also, the Steelers prepare for their first home preseason game this weekend against the Bills. Can LeGarrette Blount be what the team hopes he can be - a good counterpunch to Le'Veon Bell in the Pittsburgh backfield? Finally, the guys relate their Final Thoughts on the week in sports, both local and elsewhere.
going where no one has gone before...
I will be broadcasting the Saturday evening teaching from the Restoration in the River conference in Seekonk, MA. Hold on to your seats - buckle yourselves in - this is another great teaching. How hungry are you? How much of God can you get?
I would like to ask that those that feel led to do so send a thank you email to Pastor Zac for letting us use his facility. Wasn't that an awesome prophecy Augusto spoke over him? PastorZac@hisprovidencechurch.org
