The history of the artists of Yosemite is not merely a recounting of the paintings, engravings, and etchings they produced, but encompasses politics, big business, and the early movement to set aside spectacular land to be forever enjoyed by the public. Artist Victoria Chick chats with Big Blend Radio hosts Nancy J. Reid & Lisa D. Smith, about the historic artists and photographers who helped put Yosemite on the map including Thomas Ayers, Carleton Watkins,Thomas Hill, Albert Bierstadt, James Smillie, Thomas Moran, and Charles William Dahlgreen.

Bob is a qualified and authorized facilitator of Flower of Life Research. He teaches the MerKaBa meditation, the Unity Breath meditation, sacred geometry, and the Breath of Life along with other heart opening techniques. He was trained by Jim Leonard, the originator of the Five Elements, by Leonard Orr, the rebirthing pioneer, and by Drunvalo Melchizedek, the originator of the MerKaBa and Unity Breath meditations. He gives private Breath of Life sessions along with his two workshops: “The Breath of Life (Breathwork and Integrative Healing)” and “The Flower of Life (Sacred Geometry and the MerKaBa).” He lives in Sonoma, CA.
Mandatory evacuations south of Highway 120 and north of Old Yosemite Road. Structure defense is in place for this area of the fire by ground and aerial resources. An evacuation advisory has been extended on the Highway 108 corridor. The new evacuation advisory is from Long Barn to Pinecrest. A Forest Closure is in effect for locations near and in advance of the fire.

Being connected with nature has always been an intrinsic part of Dr. Rogers' life. He spent seven summers during his twenties as a climbing instructor, mountain guide, and Outward Bound instructor in the Oregon Cascades, Washington Cascades, Tetons, and Wind River Range in Wyoming. Climbing his first big wall in Yosemite at age 21, and spending five days climbing El Capitan in 1975. Given his love of the outdoors, discovering Taoism on his first Qigong study trip to China was nothing short of an epiphany.
Dr. Tom Rogers has been studying eastern healing arts for over 30 years. He studied Shotokan karate until a hip condition forced him to stop. He has been practicing Tai Chi and Qigong for over 20 years. He has trained in Taoist Medical Bagua Xundao Qigong in China with lineage holder Master Wan Su Jian as well as Wuji Hundun Qigong with lineage holder Master Duan Zhi Liang. He learned several forms of Tai Chi, including Chen style from lineage holder Tony Wong. He is a Member of the National Qiqong Association and enjoys practicing many forms of Qigong and Tai Chi.
Dr. Rogers is also a certified Tai Chi and Qigong Instructor with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi. He is President and CEO of the non-profit Qigong Institute in Los Altos, California whose charter is Qigong research and education. The Qigong Institute website hosts podcasts, videos, the online Qigong and Energy Medicine Database with over 5000 entries, current information on Qigong research and events, the Scientific Basis of Qigong and Energy Medicine, a world-wide Qigong and Tai Chi Teacher Directory, and more.
