When the NBA's incoming rookie class got together last month for rookie orientation, they were polled about a number of things -- including which of them would be named the Rookie of the Year.
The winner was Stanley Johnson, who went with the No. 8 overall pick to the Detroit Pistons.
What are the Pistons getting from the PAC-10 Player of the Year out of Arizona who won four consecutive state titles at Mater Dei H.S. in California before doing his one-and-done? How about a latter-day version of Ron Artest, without the craziness? Scouts and pro personnel folks believe Johnson has perhaps the most NBA-ready body of any of the incoming pros, and Johnson's Rookie of the Year campaign will be helped by the fact that he should be able to move into the starting lineup fairly quickly -- maybe even by Day One.
What else to the Pistons have to look forward to after a summer overhaul that netted them Marcus Morris, Ersan Ilyasova, Steve Blake, Aron Baynes, Danny Granger ... and Arn Tellem? What are the chances that one day they'll be anchoring a new downtown arena in The D? How far have they come since the Joe Dumars era ended?
I discussed all things Pistons-related, along with the NBA's new economics, with Jake Chapman of the Pistons flagship station, 105.1 WMGC on Thursday. We hot on a ton of topics. Hope you enjoy.
All believers can cross over to 2016 right now. For some people 2016 will be an extention of 2015. Gods grace will be with you on something He started this year (2015) for you that may have not turned out the way you wanted. For others you will cross over to start something new for your life. Most all of us need a something new to start happening in our lives to get us the blessing that we are looking for. We were blest in the year of 2015 but this is only a start of what we still have not seen.

In 1983, Buddy recorded 229 tackles and is still the all time season leader for the Falcons in that statistic. Buddy will share his insights on this years NFL campaign and also talk to us about his group Kids & Pros, founded with his former teammate Bobby Butler to teach kids proper football technique and life skills. We'll then transition in the second segment to discuss a busy week in college football with our college football guru Kip Keefer. We'll close, as always, with the Buffalo Bad Boy Pete Tasca, Mr. Savage Burn Steve Butler, and the Fantasy Matriculator Nick Garcia to recap Week 7 of the NFL Season.
What if the future is as novelist Margaret Atwood imagines it will be? In the book "The Year of the Flood," humankind has killed off many species of animals; the very rich live hidden away from the rest of society, who scrabble like animals to survive; technology has created many new things, but some of them carry hidden dangers that could doom us all...and worst of all, a plague has killed off most human beings. What can we do to keep such a future from happening? Is there anyone in Atwood's MaddAdam series who points a way to a better tomorrow? Why are human beings so troubled by evolution? These questions and many more will be considered by your favorite spiritual book club's hosts, Lori and Alice. Don't miss our conversation!

THE 2015 OFF YEAR ELECTIONS WERE GOOD FOR CONSERVATIVES. THERE WAS A BIG UPSET FOR GOVERNOR OF KENTUCKY, A SOUND DEFEAT FOR RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN OHIO, A DEFEAT FOR TRANSGENDER MADNESS IN HOUSTON RESTROOM FACILITIES, A SLAP DOWN ON BLOOMBERG'S PUSH FOR GUN CONTROL IN VIRGINIA AND EVEN DEFEAT OF SAN FRAN'S "SANCTUARY CITY" SHERIFF.
IT WAS A GREAT DAY BUT REMEMBER, IT WAS AN OFF YEAR ELECTION CYCLE AND NEXT YEAR WILL SURELY HAVE MORE COMPETITION AS THE DISINTERESTED ALWAYS VOTE IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR. IT DOES, HOWEVER, GIVE CONSERVATISM HOPE THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, WE ARE ON THE CUSP OF A MAJOR TURN BACK TO COMMON SENSE AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
