    Jazz guitarist dee Brown returns with a new release called Brown Sugar, Honey Coated Love on Innervision Records.  Foundationally inspired by Proverbs 27:7 which says, “a satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, but to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.” 


    Possessing a solid musical background, dee has performed with artists such as Nate Harasim, Aretha Franklin, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Paul Taylor, Randy Scott, Michael Winans and Gail Jhonson, just to name a few.

    America's Classical Music Jazz

    This evening I will interview and share the music of Integriti Reeves who is a Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area vocalist and composer.  She attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts and Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.  Adding to her studies, she acquired a Master’s degree in Vocal Jazz Studies at Howard University. Integriti uses her gifts of diction, tone, and improvisation well in delivering a song.  She states that her music occupies the genre of straight-forward/ modern jazz. In addition, she states that her original compositions reflect her roots in classical jazz, whilst incorporating the storytelling elements of folk and rock music. She has performed with Herbie Hancock, Ernie Andrews, Geri Allen, Eperanza Spaulding, Stevie Wonder, Terri Lynne Carrington, Liz Wright and Patrice Rushen.  Join us this evening at Jazz Notes where Jazz lives!

    This evening, I will interview Ron Kearns a saxophonist, composer/arranger, conductor, educator and record producer. He has performed with Ernie Andrews, Stanley Turrentine, Rick Henderson, Kenny Reed and many other notable artists. He has produced 41 recordings by artists such as Terell Stafford, Buck Hill, the late Ronnie Wells, Ruby Hayes, Ernie Andrews, Paul Carr, Janine Gilbert-Carter, Eric Byrd and others. In 2005 Ron received the Down Beat magazine Achievement in Jazz Education Award. Born and reared in Miami, of Cuban heritage, Onels musical environment was anchored by the music of his parents, Cuban masters, and richly influenced by the diversity of American music including Motown, funk, old school Rhythm & Blues, classical music and jazz greats, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito DíRivera and John Coltrane. A graduate of the New World School of the Arts in Florida, he quickly became part of the local Miami music scene.

    Master Sculptor Sabin Howard on creating realist art

    What does it take to create great figurative art in today's world? Join us as Master Sculptor Sabin Howard talks about the journey of the independent artist.


     


    Sabin Howard grew up in New York City and in Torino, Italy. He studied art at the Philadelphia College of Art and then earned his MFA from the New York Academy of Art. For twenty years, he taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels, before leaving academia to work full-time on his sculptures. He has been elected to the board of the National Sculpture. He has received numerous commissions and has showed his work at more than fifty solo and group shows. After 45,000 hours of working from life models in the studio, he is the creator of three heroic scale pieces, Hermes, Aphrodite, and Apollo, as well as many smaller pieces. His works are owned by museums and private collectors all over the world, and  have been favorably reviewed by The New York Times, American Artist, Fine Arts Connoisseur, American Arts Collector, and The New Criterion, as well as several foreign journals. He is the co-author of the book THE ART OF LIFE with his wife Traci L. Slatton.
