The Final VSR for September had the gang in a musical mood. After a Colorado themed newscast, we discussed how REM split up this week after decades together, Craig and John Kline discussed their favorite REM songs. We played "How Old Is _____?" with a bevy of rock stars and most importantly for today's show, we celebrated the genius that is Weird Al. Face tried his best to be helpful, but apparently he isn't quite as well versed in Weird Al as Craig.
The Magnificent Seven list was Craig's Top 7 Weird Al songs. And the music recommendation this week was "Skipper Dan" from our friend Mr. Yankovic.
At the end of the show, Craig had the second ever edition of "The Winds of Change" as he celebrated the end of the Kenyon Martin era in Denver, scratched his head at the terrible new Miami Marlins logo, and saluted the Toronto Blue Jays for changing to a logo reminiscent of their glory days, but with just enough modern flavor to make it great.
Audiences laugh out loud, as David Kaye shares side-splitting tales of his dysfunctional family affairs, and blue-collar upbringing in Pittsburgh, PA. As the last child born to a Polish steel mill worker and a Ho Jo's waitress, his wry recollections of life as the “baby brother” are candidly funny. “I grew up believing that my parents were not prejudice people. However, judging from all the beatings I took as a child, I now realize my parents hated white children.”
Acting as narrator and cast, he morphs into a one man comedy troupe using manic mannerisms, outlandish dialects, and contorted facial expressions to convey vividly funny living snapshots of his many off-the-wall characters. David's many credits include performances with Weird Al Yankovic, Richard Jeni, David Brenner, and Drew Carey. Along with numerous television appearances on ABC & Comedy Central. James Holeva is a professional Wingman, and tonight he’s your wingman. “The Wingman” James Holeva is a high class player, who is paid to help people get laid, and he’s your wingman for the night as he presents a night of comedy featuring his uncouth adventures, and expert creepin' advice, while living by the mantra of “aim high, but take anything.”
The audience is just as much a part of the show as The Wingman lends his guidance, and of course hits on every girl in the crowd. In a segment called “Creepin' with The Wingman” the crowd will be able to write down their questions on all things creepin’ – getting laid, sex, dating, relationships, etc. – and “The Wingman” will answer them on stage during the show.
Holeva wrote, starred in and produced "The Wingman" TV pilot, has provided his insight on many radio shows including 97 BHT’s syndicated segment “Wingman Wednesday," and his book "The Wingman Chronicles" will be coming out in 2012.
