Can You Handle The Truth : Let Us Make Man In Our Image :

    in Religion

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Genesis 1:26 reads "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."  Many people interpret this scripture to mean that God physically looks like man, or a particular man. We welcome you to join us, as we examine the scriptures to see, if we are in the image of God, or how do we get in the image of God? That is, if you can handle the truth.

From Darkness to Light Blackout! - Black Atheists Profiled:

    in Religion

The African American community has always boasted of a strong spiritual foundation born from the days of slavery onward. The Church was also seen as spiritual oasis during the turbulent times of the civil rights movement when it fulfilled the role of school, community meeting place, news center, and political headquarters. For many blacks, attending Church was never a matter of choice but of obligation. But in this day and age, an ever increasing number of African Americans are taking a stand and declaring themselves free of these cultural and institutional boundaries.  And if there was ever a stigma attached to being an Atheist then it is doubled in consideration of race. These Black Atheists, Humanists and so-called free thinkers are on the move spreading their anti-gospel to every African American within earshot – letting them know that if they have doubts, they are not alone. But is there war truly against God? ; Or against Religion? And do they even know the difference between the two? Join us today for another installment of From Darkness to Light as we examine a Satanic Plot to further separate the Biblical Children of God from their rightful inheritance.

Repentance is the Key: 10 Million Black Men in Church

    in Religion

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held an annual convention at the end of July, 2011.  They addressed a number of issues that face African-Americans, in particular, the vicious cycle of crime and unemployment that plagues black men and youths.  They cite the loss of manufacturing jobs, shrinking government jobs and the recession as major contributors, but the primary factor cited was the low level of education or rather, the lack thereof.  Is pushing for higher standards in urban schools where the majority of the students are minorities really the key to breaking the vicious cycle of violence and prison?  Will pushing our youth to strive for educational excellence keep them from becoming fodder for the criminal justice system or should we be looking beneath the surface of inferior education?  Join us as we search the scriptures for answers to these questions and more.

Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

The New Moon feast was this Thursday, Janurary 30th, at evening. Is the New Moon a relic of the Old Covenant?  Was it done away with in Christ and nailed to his cross?  Join us as we discuss one of the most overlooked High Holy Days of the Bible.

Repentance is the Key: My Good Deeds Outweigh My Bad Ones

    in Religion

    2 Timothy 2:15  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Many people have been taught that as long as we believe that Jesus is Lord and confess his "Holy Name," that we will recieve salvation.  Or live by the philosophy "As long as my good deeds out weigh my bad ones, and believe on Jesus, I'm in God's good graces."  Is this true according to the Bible?  Are these things in line with the Gosple of Repentance thru Jesus Christ?  Join us as we search the Holy Bible for answers to these questions and more.

Repentance is the Key: Jesus Christ and Marriage Equality

    in Religion

On June 24, 2011, the Marriage Equality Act became law in New York State, making it the sixth state to legally recognize same-sex or "gender-neutral" marriage.  Since then, as of Janurary 2014, eleven more states have also passed laws leagalizing same sex marriage.  While the new law does not allow the government to penalize religious institutions or clergy for refusing to sanctify or recognize these types of "unions" that contradict their religious doctrines, there will be those who will fully embrace it.  The issue has caused people to re-think or re-define what marriage is and some argue that the new law threatens its "sanctity".  What is the foundation for some of the arguments that are presented for and against  same-sex marriage and is there really a separation of church and state?  Does the Bible provide a clear definition or description of what marriage is?  What does the passing of the new law really change?  Are children that are raised in same-sex households more tolerant than those that aren't?  Join us as we search the Holy Bible and the teaching of Jesus Christ regarding this matter.

Repentance is the Key:Interpreting The Dream 50+ Years Later

    in Religion

On August 28, 1963, hundreds of thousands descended upon our nation’s capital to make a stand against poverty and racial discrimination.  The “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom” went down in history as one of the most pivotal points of change in our country’s history.  One of the most notable highlights of the march was a speech delivered by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which later became known as the “I Have a Dream” speech.  In it, Dr. King cast a spot light on the social, racial and financial injustices that had plagued “the negro” since they had been “made free” exactly 100 years ago, to the day, by the Emancipation Proclamation.  This past August 28 marked the 50 anniversary of that historic day and King’s historic speech.  A day that is credited with being one of the most significant events that brought about The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965.  But today, 50 years later, has the dream that so many marched, bled and died for come to fruition?   Is the so-called “negro” really free?  Have things changed for the better or have we squandered the inheritance of our elders and given ourselves over to a new slave master, sin?  Join us, as we search the Holy Bible to interpret Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream.
