"Pulp Friction with Paul Levine" presents:
John Schulian went from being one of the country's foremost newspaper sports columnists to success in Hollywood as a TV writer-producer and co-creator of XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS.
In the 1970s and '80s, his syndicated column for the Chicago Sun-Times and Philadelphia Daily News earned him comparisons to such sportswriting legends as Red Smith and A.J. Liebling.
Schulian surprised friends and colleagues when he gave it all up in 1986 and broke into show business with a script for L.A. LAW. He went on to write for such iconic shows as MIAMI VICE and WISEGUY as well as the long-running hit JAG. But XENA, for better or worse, remains his crowning achievement.
Schulian, who has written extensively for GQ and Sports Illustrated, is the author of three books, most recently SOMETIMES THEY EVEN SHOOK YOUR HAND, and the co-editor of AT THE FIGHTS. He is presently editing a collection of great football writing and laying the groundwork for what he hopes will be a cable drama about boxing.
ABOUT THE HOST:
The author of 17 novels, Paul Levine won the John D. MacDonald fiction award and was nominated for the Edgar, Macavity, International Thriller, and James Thurber prizes and is the author of the Lassiter mysteries.

F4F Radio has been discussing "Xena: Warrior Princess", even now enormously popular among fans of lesbian pairings on TV because of the Xena/Gabrielle relationship, every six months for the past three years. F4F Radio has been discussing "Xena: Warrior Princess", even now enormously popular among fans of lesbian pairings on TV because of the Xena/Gabrielle relationship, every six months for the past two years. Looks like it's time for a fifth conversation, and appropriately enough we welcome back author/filmmaker Kim Pritekel, who has been involved with the last three Xena shows as either a guest or a cohost. Rather than focus on fan fiction or "uberfic" this time, however, tonight we'll be discussing the television show itself. Kim and I will be joined, not by Xena fanfic authors, but by three longtime fans of the show - Zea Apa, Kelly Neal and Adm_Hawthorne. And we'll be talking about EVERYTHING we loved most about the show, from the subtext to the story arcs to the comedy.
The Princess Chronicles airs every Wednesday at 7:30pm with the phenomenal author of The Princess Chronicles, Aduke Aremu. Mrs. Aremu will take women on a journey of becoming a princess, the do’s the don’ts, the strategies and the stories of Princesses around the world!
Warrior Talk with GI Jenn & Jeff Gonzales is so proud to welcome Matthew O'Dell, MARINE COMBAT VETERAN and owner of Reveille Joe Coffee will be on to talk about their mission to Leave No Man Behind and to ADOPT A VETERAN.
Then, we are so HONORED to have the Iraqi Interpreter, CODE NAME: Johnny WALKER. Out of work and desperate to feed his family after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, “Johnny Walker” applied to become a translator for U.S. force. Turned down and nearly destitute, he was on the verge of despair until one night he interceded in a dispute with some Iraqi women and American MPs. Impressed, the MPs arranged to hire him as their interpreter, better known as a “terp” among American forces. ?
Johnny did such a good job that several months later, an elite unit of Navy SEALs took him under their wing. He quickly became the most sought-after terp in the country, receiving numerous citations and commendations for his work.? ? Credited by SEAL sniper Chris Kyle with saving countless American lives, Johnny spent six years working with SEALs and other special operations forces throughout Iraq, completing over a thousand missions. After narrowly escaping two attempts on his life, Johnny was helped to the U.S. by the SEALs in 2009. He and his family currently live in California, where he helps train special operations units.
Johnny will be talking about his experiences and weighing in on the current situation in IRAQ.

Warrior Talk with GI Jenn & The SEAL:
As everyone knows, we had comms issues with Sr. Airman Brian Kolfage last week. We were able to rebook him for this week!
Sr. Airman Brian Kolfage endured a life-changing event that would have sent someone of lesser spirit into a downward spiral. But for this former SF Airman turned Architect life is about looking forward to what you can do, not what you cannot.
Despite suffering multiple amputations and the looming possibility of death, Airman Kolfage still maintained incredible strength and courage throughout his recovery. The fact that no one with his level of amputation has ever been able to walk independently didn't discourage him. With undiminished spirit, he still saw opportunities and worked with feverish determination through his physical therapy program, gaining strength and balance every day.
Also, we will be talking about ISIS (or ISIL, depending on who you talk to) and yes... We will be calling out some VALOR STEALING DOUCHECANOES....
We encourage all to tune into this very special episode. Call in number is 646-595-3504.
