STEALING NATIVE AMERICAN CHILDREN What we rarely do, is pay the remotest attention to what is STILL happening in the daily lives of the First Nations peoples. Do we look at the abject poverty that has been inflicted on the most at-risk group in our greater society? Are we remotely aware that this poverty is being used as an excuse to steal yet another generation of children?
From Boarding Schools, to Adoptions, the cultural genocide is happening right now; fed by a seemingly endless flow of Federal monies that rewards the States for taking Indian children from their families.
Tonight, I am joined by three amazing women who will tell their tales.
Evelyn Red Lodge is an author and journalist who advocates for the ICWA. Her story is chronicled in "Two Worlds: Lost Children of the Indian Adoption Projects."
Janice Howe fought (and finally won) for the return of her 4 stolen grandchildren s chronicled on NPR.
Molly KillsEnemy is a dear friend who was both adopted away herself as a young girl, and had a son taken from her outside the ICWA when she was young. She now lives with her two sons and one daughter, with another daughter who has married.
Please listen to my honored guests speak of their experiences and stand strong against the vile Christian Alliance for Indian Child Welfare & Lisa Morris who are trying to end the Indian Child Welfare Act - an act that needs to be strengthened, not revoked.
We live in a world where women endure a culture of rape, the indigenous have always endured a culture of rape, and we even rape our Earth. We are primitive and clueless. Let me tell you what primitive is: Fouling your own nest. That's what fracking and tar sands essentially do.Let me tell you what is advanced. Having the foresight to care about our life support system and environment for generations to come over short-term profits.Fukushima is quickly becoming Fukusallma. The Mounties are looking for a "compromise or peaceful resolution" down the end of automatic weapons in Canada - which equals "We are gonna force this down your throat," because energy vampires losing is unthinkable, and the people winning is doubly so.
The war is on again, full tilt boogie with Obamacare Medicare and food stamp cuts while the drumbeats whimpers for war. The Earth is turning against us in our greed, while we test more nukes.
You seriously could not make this shite up.
Join tonight, call in, rant along!
Colorado is undergoing a 500 year flood, with little National attention. In 24 hours, they got more than their annual precipitation average. Hopefully, we will have a local report from fellow leftist and resident Jenelle Green. Her mother is trapped in Lyons, so her availability is tenuous. Then? A contrast and compare of Obama's speech versus Putin'a letter, with scathing commentary by yours truly. I'll be working off the cuff, with visceral responses. I did not watch Obama live. I like my TV sans bricks through it.
Call in, vent with us....
We live in a world where Tiana Parker is told that wearing her hair in a natural style is inappropriate, and cries tears of rejection from adults in her world who are supposed to understand being Black in America. We live in a World where the President acts like he is doing us a favor by asking Congressional approval to go into a war on false premises, rather than the Law of the Land.
And, we live in a World where people are increasingly standing up to the dread of war, like the March in DC in 9/11 by both the March Against Drones and Million American March Against Fear.
I will be taking calls tonight, first from the rep's of the marches, then by callers like you!
Michael Gottlieb, former co-conspirator and ally in all things wildly subversive steps out of Political retirement to re-join Wild Wild Left radio tonight! Now a published author, I will have a chance to pick his brain about his awesome novel, The Fourth Wall, the process of writing, and the art of living on the stage.
Of course, we will sink our teeth into the News, as always. Syria is looming like a hair trigger brandished by madmen bent on world domination.. or destruction. Fukushima may make that point moot, as the ocean boils and the possibility of uncontrollable meltdown becomes more likely.
Oil is still spilling, rigs are burning and the Gulf is still a toxic stew
Tonight I have the honor of speaking to the family of Michael Nida II's family. His Sister, Terri Thaxton Teramura and Mother Jean Thaxton will be joining us. Michael was on a date with his wife, Naily, and was profiled by police for crossing the street from a gas station to stop in at a tobacco shop for cigarettes. They frisked him, then bullied him, and frightened him. He was unarmed. When he ran? They shot him 5 times in the back.
No charges were brought on his murderer, Officer Gilly.
These brave ladies, other friends and family have created Nida's Rydas to protest the endemic violence by the police, up to and including murdering citizens.
It will be a heart rending show.
What has the movement to a "Security State" really cost us? In terms of privacy? In terms of jobs? In terms of individual freedom? How about in terms of actual Democracy?
Tonight my focus is on those very real costs, how are they are trying to divert our focus from it... and what we should be paying attention to.
Saints News Radio presents Breaking Bad - Raiders vs, Saints Preview Saints Analyst, Mike Detillier, of WWL's Saints Radio and The Advocate will be our guest on the show. Mike will talk about the Saints 2013 outlook, Training Camp Confidential reports, new transactions and more.
Ian Berg and K.C. Whitten cover all things that are breaking in the world of sports. Bryan Salmond of WWL-TV in New Orleans will join us to talk Saints. Has their first win pushed this team into a winning streak? Maybe it is a one hit wonder? We will also talk LSU's big upcoming weekend, and the loss to Florida. The Houston Texas destroyed the Jets, but they lost star linebacker Brian Cushing to injury. With a rumored ACL tear he looks to be out for the season. How will t
