We hear stories about the TPP and the power of multinational corporations. However, American independent family ranchers are living the nightmare. Huge agribusiness corporations want to end labeling of beef. They don’t want you to know where your food comes from because imported beef is cheaper, their profit are higher, and it allows them to exert greater control over the beef market. It’s the independent rancher who is proud of his American beef who gets hurt first because his premium quality beef has to compete against lower standard beef from cheaper countries. Foreign countries want to export beef to the U.S. and they object that labeling beef as “Made in the USA” puts them at a competitive disadvantage. A WTO tribunal agrees and Congress, under the thrall of agribusiness money and lobbying, won’t help our own citizens. It’s horrible now and it will be even worse under TPP. Listen why then with guest Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA, and then call the Congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121, ask for your Representative, and tell them to keep COOL. The Tim Danahey Show discusses economics, government, social issues, history, and non-fiction books in a magazine format featuring in-depth conversations with guests. Politics and inflammatory conversations are discouraged as they are divisive and counter-productive. Instead, the show seeks under-reported topics and delves into facts, different perspectives, and ramifications of each perspective. The show does not espouse a political agenda. Danahey’s strength is to take complex subjects, talk with experts and make them comprehensible and entertaining for average listeners.

In punk rock circles - it always meant JERK! The "sexual connotation is rarely considered.
The terms wank and wanker originated in British slang during the late 19th and early 20th century. In modern usage it is usually a general term of contempt rather than a commentary on sexual habits. More generally, wanker can carry suggestions of egotistical and self-indulgent behaviour and this is the dominant meaning in Australia and New Zealand.
In the United States, the term is understood, but rarely used, and then more in a way suggesting the target is an idiot.
We are also please to welcome Josh Tolley to the show.

Dynamic speaker and prolific author Paul McGuire joins us as we, as a nation, stand at the precipice of the abyss.
From Paul McGuire: Many Americans, lulled to sleep by that Great American Dream Machine, the corporate-controlled media, seem to forget that in the 1990’s the Republicans, along with Bill and Hillary, promised us an economic boom would come when we signed on to trade treaties like NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA and the plans of the WTO. The best politicians that globalist money can buy told us about all the new high paying jobs and new industries that would come to America.
So let’s look behind the smoke and mirrors and find out exactly what happened beginning in the 1990’s when the Republican Party and “Third Way” politicians like Newt Gringrich, who pretends to be a conservative, but in reality believes in the synthesis of communism and capitalism, passed the trade treaties like NAFTA, GATT, CAFTA and MFN (Most Favored Nation) status for China. Why is the nation of China so very important? It is important because it represents the synthesis of Communism and Capitalism. As a direct result of these trade treaties, the American taxpayer artificially super-charged China’s economy and brought about the rapid decline of America’s economy.
Listen to this fast-flowing, information packed broadcast as we delve deep and look through the smoke and mirrors to understand exactly what is taking place.
In this episode we cover Martial Law, Jade Helm 15, while also taking a quick detour to the USS Liberty, and closing it with the rise of machines and Time-Travel.

Wednesday, January 28, 6pm EST: Due to the profound importance of a what is called a trade agreement being negotiated in secrecy by heads of state of some 11 countries world-wide and the political, economic and jurisdictional implications of this, I am convening another Round Table this week on the subject of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, (TPP).
Joining in discussion with Mitchell is Arthur Stamoulis, Director of the Citizen’s Trade Campaign, Melinda St. Louis, International Campaigns Director with Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch and Adam Weissman of Global Justice for Animals and the Environment.
Arthur Stamoulis is Executive Director of Citizens Trade Campaign, a national coalition of labor, environmental, family farm, consumer and human rights organizations working together for trade policies that promote a just and sustainable global economy.
Melinda St. Louis is International Campaigns Director with Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch, where she works with international allies to roll back WTO financial deregulation and to stop expansion of harmful trade agreements.
Adam Weissman works with Global Justice for Animals and the Environment opposing trade agreements that endanger animals, the environment, food safety, and the human rights of communities on the frontlines of environmental struggles.
In December 2012, Mitchell interviewed Mitch Jones of Food & Water Watch on the TPP, and it’s clearly time to do so again in light of its potentially imminent signing.

Today on BR on the World we cover Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Unlike the WTO or other multilateral trade bodies, APEC has no treaty obligations required of its participants. Decisions made within APEC are reached by consensus and commitments are undertaken on a voluntary basis,21 members - referred to as "member economies" - which account for approximately 40 percent of the world's population, approximately 55 percent of world GDP and about 44 percent of world trade. Member Economies are Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; People's Republic of China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Republic of Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; The Republic of the Philippines; The Russian Federation; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; United States of America; Viet Nam.
Remember when the Canada/US Free Trade Agreement came along? It was all over the media, politicians of the day gave extensive time and effort to explain how they saw it to Canadians. It was the core issue of a Federal election. The majority Government victory for Brian Mulroney paved the passing of the pact. Then it became NAFTA with the inclusion of Mexico. Most of us can certainly remember some of the issues from that time, and they still go on.
Those days of relative "transparency" are long gone. The Corporate Pacification Committee (CPC) of Emperor Harper doesn't believe in telling Canadians what all these "trade" deals really mean. Canada/China FIPA. TPP. And now, CETA, Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. With the 28 member European Union. Despite the warm fuzzies from Emperor about this being a "done deal", it is nowhere near that. The Agreement text is out there, whether it was meant to be or not. And it's not that "upside" for Canada.
Scott Harris is the Trade Campaigner with the Council of Canadians, Canada’s largest citizens’ organization. He has been active for over a decade in the anti-globalization movement, organizing around the MAI in the late-90s, the WTO ministerial in Seattle in 1999, the FTAA meetings in Quebec City in 2001, the Kananaskis meeting of the G8 in 2002 and the G20 Summit in Toronto. Prior to his position as trade campaigner, Scott was the Council of Canadians’ Prairies-NWT Regional Organizer, and he has also worked in the labour movement with the Alberta Federation of Labour and the Alberta Workers Health Centre and in international solidarity through the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation. He has had the distinct pleasure of being tear gassed by security forces in three different countries.
I will be joined by Scott and we will examine this deal in detail. There is much that Canadians need to know about it.
"Codex Alimentarius," which refers to a set of strict regulations covering all aspects of food, is Latin for "food code" or "food regulations." This collection of food rules in Europe dates back to standards enacted between 1897 and 1911 by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. They were used as a legal reference by the courts, although the Codex Alimentarius itself had no legal standing.
Modern Codex regulations are prepared by the Codex Alimentarius Commission (herein referred to as "Codex"), which works with the EU and UN in an attempt to regulate every aspect of food production, packaging, preparation, preservation, and presentation of food "from farm to fork." Codex also attempts to regulate supplemental nutrients. It even goes so far as to eliminate "organic produce" standards (through dilution)!
Because the U.S. is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and because the WTO and other treaty agreements require the United States to adhere to Codex standards, any changes approved in Europe, and implemented in the EU-dominated Codex meetings, could subject the United States to WTO-enforced trade sanctions.
Codex will control:
1. Vitamins, minerals and nutrients,
2. Genetically modified organisms,
3. Toxic residues,
4. Antibiotics, drugs, growth stimulants, and other hormones in food animals,
5. Organic foods, and
6. Irradiation of food.
This segment outlines the problems with the Obama Administration position that puts the US interests at risk, and exposes the danger of Obama's decisionmaking.
The WTO Arbitration should sort through the different claims, allegations, and positions of the EU antagonists in relation to the substance of their economic relief plan for Ukraine. The US has no role in this crisis.
Wall Street is circling the wagons and protecting their "Favorite congressman, Scott Brown.
Obama's approval rating is going up, but the media ignores it
The WTO thinks putting "Made In USA" on our food is hurting other countries.
