Written speaks with Hollywood action Stunt woman Angela Meryl while she is in Atlanta filming Fast and Furious.
Episode 9 of the Written Word: Host Alicia talks with author/illustrator Rebecca Yee and children's book author Elizabeth Shanks.
Join hosts Kevin Hunter and Jeffrey O'Brien as they discuss a piece of contract law known as the survival clause.
The survival clause is used to describe a contract clause that remains in effect, or is still valid, after the end of the agreement. These clauses include limitations of liability, non-disclosure/confidentiality, non-solicitation, non-competition, indemnities and insurance provisions.
A survival clause is necessary if there are any clauses that one of the parties wishes to have remain in effect after the termination of the agreement.
Written speaks with chef Adrian Miller about his book Soul Food: The surprising story of an American Cuisine, one plate at a time.
n this insightful and eclectic history, Adrian Miller delves into the influences, ingredients, and innovations that make up the soul food tradition. Focusing each chapter on the culinary and social history of one dish--such as fried chicken, chitlins, yams, greens, and "red drinks"--Miller uncovers how it got on the soul food plate and what it means for African American culture and identity. Miller argues that the story is more complex and surprising than commonly thought. Four centuries in the making, and fusing European, Native American, and West African cuisines, soul food--in all its fried, pork-infused, and sugary glory--is but one aspect of African American culinary heritage. Miller discusses how soul food has become incorporated into American culture and explores its connections to identity politics, bad health raps, and healthier alternatives. This refreshing look at one of America's most celebrated, mythologized, and maligned cuisines is enriched by spirited sidebars, photographs, and 22 recipes.
Join Hosts Kevin Hunter and Jeffrey O'Brien as they discuss Contract Law Integration, and specifically, boilerplates.
It has been said that every contract is made of two parts: the boilerplate and the important stuff i. For many lawyers, boilerplate has become the drafting equivalent of wallpaper -it looks nice, is always around, but after a while you don’t notice it any more. Black’s Law Dictionary defines “boilerplate” as:
"Language which is used commonly in documents having a definite meaning in the same context without variation; used to describe standard language in a legal document that is identical in instruments of a like nature."

Business owners enter into contracts all the time. Before you sign the bottom line, you need to understand what happens if you don't fulfill the contract or have a breach of contract, which is failing to perform any term of a contract, written or oral, without a legitimate legal excuse. This may include not completing a job, not paying in full or on time, failure to deliver all the goods, substituting inferior or significantly different goods, not providing a bond when required, being late without excuse, or any act which shows the party will not complete the work ("anticipatory breach"). Breach of contract is one of the most common causes of law suits for damages and/or court-ordered "specific performance" of the contract.
Learn from business law expert Jeff O'Brien, who joins Kevin Hunter, what you need to know about breach of contract as a business owner.
