Reaching a State of Empowerment requires a lot of things of a person. You don't just wake up one morning, suddenly Empowered with all skills, knowledge, education and personality traits you need to be Empowered. Anyone who fails to realize that changes are needed in order to reach a State of Empowerment has a long way to go to get from where they are now to where they want to be.
The first thing that must happen is the realization that you are not happy with the way things are going in your life. The second thing - and this is big - is a deep down, true desire to make changes. This is followed by taking the action to make those changes; to be willing to actually take the necessary steps to move you forward toward living a more Empowered life.
Once this process has begun, there are many steps you must take before you reach your Ultimate place you desire to be. Lao-tzu, the Chinese philosopher, is credited with saying, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." It's the process of putting one foot in front of the other and going in the direction of your dreams.
But this process requires something else - something that must be an integral part of the process. Otherwise, you may go off-track so many times you never reach your ultimate destination. It also helps to keep you focused on what is important.
What is this important element? Accountabililty. Join Teresa Beeman as she gives you information you can put to good use, as well as some food for thought.
This program is sponsored by the Center for Empowered Women and can be heard every Monday and Wednesday at 11:00 am Eastern time.
Think about the last trip you took. How many stops did you have to make before you reached your destination? Of course, it depends on whether we're talking about a trip to the grocery store or a trip across the country. What about a vacation or a business trip?
Did you fly or drive? You might have taken a train. A lot depends on when you left, how long you planned to be gone, where you were going and why.
In order to reach Empowerment, there is only one way to get there - on the road. You cannot skip ahead by catching a flight. You cannot sleep through the trip by taking a train and leave the navigation to someone else. You must get in your vehicle and drive along the road.
There will be dirt roads that boil up dust with every turn of your tires. There will roads that are full of potholes and are badly in need of repaving. There will be some smooth surfaces and you'll think it's going to be a smooth ride the rest of the way.
You will run into road blocks, traffic jams, railroad crossings, road construction and detours. Why, oh why did you decide to start out on this journey? But you know the answer to that and you can't quit now.
Join Teresa Beeman for a discussion of 13 Stops Along the Road to Empowerment.
This program is brought to you by the Center for Empowered Women and can be heard every Monday and Wednesday at 11:00 am Eastern time.
