This show is about the very first step towards revealing your brilliance. It is literally integral to all phases of life no matter how much we ignore it or pretend it doesn't matter.
Although this is the second show on our journey to reconnecting with our personal Brilliance it sets the tone or lays the foundation, if you will, for everything that life has to offer.
Join me to find out the first step to Brilliance. It's a pretty big step despite the simplicity of it. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
1. What is the one thing that everyone needs, can't seem to get enough of, yet is constantly plentiful?
2. What do you seek from those closest to you, but for which you may be too fearful to ask?
3. (Trick Question) What made the Grinch's heart grow 3 sizes that day? (Only the very advanced may have the answer to this one!)
Tune in to BYO Brilliance and tune back into your best self!
Do you look up to anyone other than the person reflected in your mirror? Have you ever wanted to wear something completely different than your parents or friends felt was right for you? Have you considered why "Celebrities" seem so self-assured? Everyone has brilliance within them and with a little cleaning of our personal lenses we can accept and imbue this brilliance.
When we were born we came packed with all the capabilities necessary to manage life more than our environment sometimes would like us to believe. Yes there are sad moments, yes there are terrifying moments, but the brilliance remains even if it remains strategically hidden.
It's time to release this brilliance and see where you can take you in life!

This week on Women Warriors, Wed. Sept 25 at Noon ET, our special guest Jo Gelbard will be discussing the topic of “Finding Your Own Voice.” Each of us is inundated with so much to do and so many to care for, how do we find time for our self? Join us as we discuss with Jo, her thoughts, insights, and journey on this topic.
Born in New York City, Jo Gelbard has one married son and 2 grandchildren. She studied fine art since childhood. After 14 years of marriage and still married in 1984, she met Miles Davis and started a personal and artistic relationship with him. They began an art collaboration which resulted in a Simon and Schuster book on their collective work. Jo finally got divorced after 6 years of having this affair and one year before Miles passed away. Jo and Miles paintings have been exhibited in the Whitney Museum Biennale in New York, The Montreal Museum of Art and La Musee De La Musique in Paris. She continues to exhibit both solo and collaborative canvases internationally in Paris, London, Rotterdam. Her new Book "Miles and Jo, Love Story in Blue" describes the relationship, their art, and the roads that led them to each other. Jo remained with Miles up until his death in 1991.
Shirley Gutkowski's guest today is the author of Homeward Bound - Why Women Are Embracing the New Domesticity Emily Matcher.Amid today’s rising anxieties—the economy, the scary state of the environment, the growing sense that the American Dream hasn’t turned out to be so dreamy after all—a groundswell of women (and more than a few men) are choosing to embrace an unusual rebellion: domesticity. A generation of smart, highly educated young people are spending their time knitting, canning jam, baking cupcakes, gardening, and more (and blogging about it, of course), embracing the labor-intensive domestic tasks their mothers and grandmothers eagerly shrugged off. Some are even turning away from traditional careers and corporate culture for slower, more home-centric lifestyles that involve “urban homesteading,” homeschooling their kids, or starting Etsy businesses. They’re questioning whether regular jobs are truly fulfilling and whether it’s okay to turn away from the ambitions of their parents’ generation.

3 year Anniversary of Our Own Voices Live!
We have been on the air this past Sept 11th for 3 years! Wow, can you believe it has been 3 years already? Today we want to talk about how we got our start, why we started, those who helped, supported and an inspired us along the way. People Like Sir Cooper with his Progressive Talk radio show on KLAV, Brother Ramon Savoy of Black Power Talk radio on KCEP Power 88.1 and others.
Want to give a special shout out to my co-host, Mrs., Angela Thomas. It was her idea to take Our Own Voices into radio. She is a trusted friend and confidant. Without her help, support and expertise this show would not be here and other events I am involved with would not have happened.
Speaking of events happening, shout out to Sister Jess Flo for always willing to share her poetry talent in all of my events. What a community minded young activist. Can’t mention poetry without recognizing Sister ISIS who wrote and recited the Trayvon Martin show opener. Big thanks to you Sister!
There are more so join us as we celebrate 3 years on the airwaves of Blogtalk Radio!!!
