Facing the Challenges of the Generation Mix has created more complexities in the workplace. Social, cultural and political factors are shaping individual values and work ethic. Successful leaders are coming to understand these influences and determine ways to best manage and develop a multigenerational workforce that have different values, learning styles and expectations.
Just consider technology as one of the biggest dividers. According to a Pew survey, while three-quarters of adults age 18 to 30 say they use the Internet daily. The older Gen X goes online to accomplish a task and then walks away from the computer. Gen Y goes online and offline seamlessly and does not make a distinction between one and the other” (Behrstock- Sherratee & Coggshall, 2010). For adults younger than age 30, 72% use their cell phones for most or all of their calls while 87% text.” This can become a challenge when younger generations use text messages to call in sick or report a problem.

Today we will be interviewing Rebecca Schultzberg, who is the Director of Development for the Cambridge School of Weston. A graduate of Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia with a degree in fine arts, Rebecca lived in Spain where she traveled extensively with her family and friends. Rebecca worked in publishing sales and marketing before the nonprofit lightbulb went off. She held annual fund, campaign consultant and director of development roles in a variety of education and social service settings. She thinks of herself as a "creative risk-taker" who gets "more out of a day than most". She earned a Masters in Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit management from Clark University. Rebecca resides in Boston with her husband Glen and two daughters. She serves on the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and is a Board Member of The Puppet Showplace.
The MSOL program is labeled as interdispliary, in that it does not only focus on issues and concepts of leadership, but also aspects of the business world that affect and impact leadership. Like the course on Research, the Finance course is offered to help students with a non-financial become more comfortable with the critical world of money, balance sheets, and budets.
