Episode 32 of Building Your Law Practice with Jim Thompson and Nick Augustine
Budgets, law firm marketing and business development. Why are lawyers so bad at running their firms like successful businesses? One major flaw in the business of law is taking all the net proceeds as profit and zeroing out the year without building a marketing budget and reserve. Many say five percent of projected annual receipts should be allocated for annual advertising, marketing and publicity efforts.
About this weekly show:
Referrals are the lifeblood of any business and especially for lawyers, so why is it that lawyers are not getting the referrals they need to grow their practice? Listen and learn to tips you can use today!
Brought to you in part by Members’ Choice Federal Credit Union in Denton, Texas on Unicorn Lake Boulevard. You may be eligible to join Members Choice if you live, work, worship or attend school in Denton or Argyle, Texas.
About Jim and Nick:
Jim Thompson is a retired lawyer who is well-known for helping attorneys get on track to earning more clients through simple cost-effective activities. Jim is the author of "Why Lawyers Fail To Get Referrals and What They Can Do About It"
Nick Augustine helps lawyers share tips and stories about their practice areas by writing their blog content, managing social media and producing Internet radio podcasts.
Dallas is ground zero for Ebola. Flights are being cancelled, hotels are being un-booked. Bestselling author Wayne Allyn Root, says it’s an economic disaster that will affect the whole country. He'll be on with Joe today to discuss.
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
A while back before I became focused on my "get a replacement car" mission I was presenting and talking about a number of points relating to American history, the American economic system and the Federal Reserve, and the secularlist agenda. I've drifted away from that for the simple reason that I had that gap where I didn't do any shows and moved on to other things. But one subject that has become very relevant out of that, not because of me, but relevant all the same is the biblical year of the release or the "shemitah year". Jonathan Cahn of course has a book out on this and while I've not read the book, I have read enough elsewhere to strongly feel that every 7th year, during a "shemitah year", we go through a correction. A number of economists have pointed to 2015 being perhaps a very bad year and with the Shemitah year officially starting on sundown September 24th on our calendar, we've seen our share of interesting things since then. Today, I wanted to talk a little bit about this as well as reference some of the arguments against it from some Christians out there and also if there's time share a couple of articles relating to the market and the economy that again point to potential trouble brewing. That's today at 5:30 Eastern time and archived afterward.

When his son asked him to do a favor one day, Victor never imagined what the results would be. His son wanted help expanding his North American Power team into the new markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.
Victor was a corporate professional working in engineering management and didn’t know much about expanding an energy choice team in various states, but when he became a Representative, he found that the free training and free webpage surprisingly helped him find fast success, and soon he became an Area Director.
“What I didn’t expect was an income that would allow me to spend time with my grandsons. When my kids were growing up, I had to spend 60 to 80 hours a week working, and saw so little of them. Now I have the pleasure of sharing this Opportunity to help lots of people with their own personal economic recovery.”
Victor’s wife is also looking forward to spending less time at her job. “That’s great, it’s already helping us meet our future goal of spending lots of time with our two grandsons, and not having to worry about finances while doing so. My suggestion for anyone considering the North American Power Opportunity is to just do it. If not this Opportunity, then what else? There are no more deregulated industries and North American Power is changing the playing field, in fact they’re changing the entire home-based business industry. Just do it!”
