Shannon and Dave know what it's like to go through the anxiety and pain of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. They found themselves comforted by Nature. They have created an experience for people with cancer to help them find comfort and inspiration in the beautiful woods of North Carolina.
"After our own experience with Shannon's breast cancer in 2003, we became aware that surviving cancer requires not just physical stamina, but ALSO time to process the many emotional and spiritual challenges it brings.
"Together we have created a place where people diagnosed with cancer come to deal with the difficult aspects of cancer, meet others and find strength.
"Our motivation is to bring together people who want to further explore their cancer journey, focusing on living more fully and authentically - mind, body & spirit. Personally, we are strong believers in giving back, simplifying, laughter, friendship, and spending time in nature."
Mike and Joyce speak with Shannon and Dave about how they developed the concept of Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreats.

My guests for June are Tony Piazza and Susan Tuttle.
Susan describes herself as a "slightly twisted" author. She is also a professional book editor, writing mentor and teacher.
Susan's first suspense novel, "Tangled Webs," was published in 2005 to great acclaim from readers.
In 2014 she launched her next novel, the paranormal suspense story titled "Proof of Identity. And in May of 2014 her latest suspense novel, "Sins of the Past," became available in both print and e-book format through Amazon.
Also slated for release later in 2014 is "A Matter of Identity," an historical romantic suspense tale that takes place in England in the 1860s and 1870s.
Writers, take note, available on Amazon in Kindle format, are the first 6 units of her 12-unit writing program, "Write It Right: Exercises to Unlock the Writer in Everyone," on which her weekly classes are based. The entire program will be available as print workbooks in the summer of 2014.
Tony Piazza was employed in the film industry for 10 years during the 1970s as an actor, extra, and stand-in. During that time he had worked with such legends as Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, and Karl Malden. He earned a Biology degree in 1980 and worked in scientific research at U.O.P. and U.C.S.F., and for the Pathology Department at San Francisco's Veteran's Administration Hospital. He now lives with his wife on the California Central Coast.
Tony is also a member of the prestigious crime writer's associations, Sisters in Crime, active in both the Central Coast and L.A. Chapters, and the SLO NightWriters organization of San Luis Obispo. Presently he is at work on his fifth novel- the third, of his bestselling Tom Logan mystery series.
We are continuing in our series: "Exposing the Signs of the Times, Get Ready - Stay Ready It Will Happen In A Moment." We are now in the final division of this Great Book, which is The Things Which Shall be Hereafter (after the church age is over). The final chapters of this book, Revelation chapters 4 - 22 are all futuristic.
We are concluding in this wonderful teaching the last two chapters of Revelation. Tonight we will begin in the 22nd chapter. John saw a river that flow eastward from the temple door of the throne room of God and of the Lamb. Ezekiel saw that same river and gave us a detail of its length and what we can expect to draw from this water of Life. This stream flowed with water clear as crystal and it was filled with God's blessings. Everywhere this eternal river flowed the abundance of God was known. Imagine life forever uninterupted blessings meeting our needs in real time. This river was located in the New Jerusalem it flowed with a river just as the Garden in Eden. The Garden in Eden had a tree of Life. Where will the New Jerusalem be and where was the Garden of Eden? God's original plan for man will come alive and function as He intended. Tune in and wet your appetite of what heaven's bliss will be like for the chosen of God.
