John Carver Show - Put God First (Denzel Washington)

    in Self Help

"Number one: Put God first," he said.  "Put God first in everything you do."

"Everything you think you see in me, everything I’ve accomplished, everything you think I have – and I have a few things," said Washington. "Everything that I have is by the grace of God. Understand that. It’s a gift."

In leading up to those remarks, the star of such films as Malcolm X, Training Day, Glory, The Book of Eli, and The Equalizer, said, “When I was young and started really making it as an actor, I came and talked to my mother and said, ‘Mom, did you think this was going to happen? I’d be so big and I’ll be able to take care of everybody and I can do this and I can do that.’"

"She said, ‘Boy, stop it right there, stop it right there, stop it right there!" he continued.  "She said, ‘If you only knew how many people been praying for you.’ How many prayer groups she put together, how many prayer talks she gave, how many times she splashed me with holy water to save my sorry behind."

Towards the end of his speech, Washington repeated some of the comments he has made over the years about reliance on God. He reminded that crowd that no matter how much you attain in material goods, "you will never see a U-Haul behind a hearse."

He also told the graduates of the small, private, historically black college in New Orleans, "I pray that you put your slippers under your bed tonight, so that when you wake up in the morning you have to get on your knees to reach them."

“And while you’re down there, say thank you," he said.  "Thank you for grace, thank you for mercy, thank you for understanding, thank you for wisdom, thank you for parent...

Nite Callers Bigfoot Radio Presents: Mel Skahan Bigfoot Researcher - Washington

    in Paranormal

Mel Skahan lives in Toppenish Washington and is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Mel worked for the United States Forest Service from 1988 – 1995 in the Wind River and Mt. Adams Ranger Districts. He has also worked security in the past and currently works for the Yakama Nation Forestry. He has not always been a believer. He was raised in the woods by his great, great, grandfather, who would keep all of the kids in the woods all summer at his camp in a closed area of the Yakama Reservation. It was there that Mel heard stories of Bigfoot. Mel worked in Bigfoot country in while working for the Forest Service. Back during those days, Mel laughed at the stories. He never really believed the stories, until he got to thinking about things from the past. When he started working for the Yakama Nation, he started seeing signs of the creature; tracks, hair, smell, and even sightings. He had visuals starting 9 years ago. He went on expeditions with BFRO when he was a member. He has been on other private expeditions with close friends he has made while on outings. Mel now does all of the bigfoot reports on the Yakama Reservation; there are only 3 individuals that listen to reports. With every new encounter, Mel’s way of reporting and researching change.

Kissing Frogs Gets Closer to Washington

    in Business

I'm talking about good people to help build, run, and grow your business.

The thing is, it's not all that easy to find good people. All the really smart businesspeople I know are constantly looking for superstar employees.

Finding good employees is like dating. It's a numbers game. Unless you're truly lucky, the first person you date doesn't end up being your spouse. Think about all the uncomfortable dates you had to endure... the many times your heart was broken... and the frogs you had to kiss... before finding "the one."

Finding the right employees is no different. You are going to have to kiss a few frogs before finding the superstars who can help your business grow. And if you are not prepared to do that, you will have a staff full of mediocre employees... or continuous turnover. Neither of these things is good for your customers, your one or two good employees, your reputation, or your bottom line.

Knowing the Characteristics of Your Ideal Employee

Regardless of the actual position you're filling or the skill set the employee needs to have, everyone you hire should have three important traits:

Defining the Position You're Trying to Fill

In addition to knowing the kind of person you're looking for, you need to have a very good understanding of the position - and of the experience necessary to do the job properly.

People who should listen to this show are entrepreneurs, career coaches
