People Demanding Action on Middle East Peace with Joel Segal
We selected the anniversary of the 9/11/01 attacks, because our program is dedicated to healing the wounds of war, bringing people together, and building understanding to achieve a lasting and just peace in the Middle East.
Joel Segal is a longtime organizer, activist, and scholar. He served as a senior legislative aide to Congressman John Conyers for 13 years, and helped found and lead movements to reform healthcare, provide relief to AIDS victims in Africa, as well as for Peace in the Middle East.
Joel will welcome leaders, experts and activists working for Middle East Peace. In this first program, Joel will interview world renowned scholar Dr. Hussein Yusuf Kamal Ibish, PhD, Senior Fellow at the American Task Force on Palestine, and a frequent guest on national and international news programs. We are very honored to welcome Dr. Ibish to help us launch this new show.
Alex Lubin will discuss his book, Geographies of Liberation: The Making of the Afro-Arab Political Imaginary. Lubin will talk about the history of African Americans and Middle Eastern issues, primarily Palestine, since the late 19th century to today. The opinions of Martin Luther King Jr, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, and others concerning Palestine will be addressed.
The violet flame is the transmutative power of the Holy Spirit. It will change world conditions and hte consciousness behind it. There is so much violence and strife going on right now. Let's transmute that energy and all negative prophecies concerning war through the Middle East, including those of Nostradamus, with our violet flame mantras. God bless you for joining us.
GENDER VIOLENCE: IS IT REALLY THAT DIFFERENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST?
The news gives us shocking reports of violence against women in the Middle East – stoning, brutality, punishment for being sexually assaulted—it has to be worse than the US, right? It turns out there are vast differences in gender violence, but there also are a surprising number of similarities.
Leyla Welkin, Ph.D. is a clinical cross cultural psychologist born in Turkey and educated in the US. After 25 years working in the Pacific Northwest, she founded the Pomegranate Connection Program in Ankara, Turkey in 2008. She has partnered with organizations in the US, the UK, and Turkey to address gender based violence. Welkin has worked with civil and social organizations, government agencies, businesses, universities, and the United Nations Population Fund to develop programs to prevent and intervene in sexual and family violence among Syrian refugees living in Turkey.
Her work has given her a unique perspective on talking about the perpetrators, survivors, social views and struggles faced by women in the Middle East and how they compare with those in the United States.
Join us Saturday at 11 am Pacific Time to as we discuss domestic violence and gender abuse in the Middle East and how it compares with that in the US.

Do we need military intervention in the Middle East? Are we handling things properly? Major General Paul E. Vallely with Stand Up America joins Joe to discuss the current state of affairs. Tune in!
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
