    Deepertruth: Eucharistic Miracle of Bagno di Romagna, Italy 1412

    in Religion

    In 1412, the prior of the Basilica of St. Mary of Bagno di Romagna, Fr. Lazzaro da Verona, while celebrating the Holy Mass, was assailed by doubts about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament.  He had just pronounced the words of consecration of the wine when this was transformed into living Blood and began to flow from the chalice and fall onto the
    corporal. Fr. Lazzaro, profoundly moved and repentant, confessed his unbelief to the faithful present at the celebration and the profound miracle that the Lord had worked before his eyes.

    At Bagno di Romagna, in the Basilica of St. Mary Assumed, the relic of the Eucharistic miracle of the “Holy Cloth Soaked by Blood” is preserved. The historian Fortunio thus describes the miracle in his noted work Annales Camalduenses: “It was the year 1412.  The Camaldolese Abbey of Santa Maria in Bagno (then Priorato) was governed by Don Lorenzo, of Venetian origin. While he was celebrating the Divine Sacrifice, he mentally experienced, by diabolical influence, a strong doubt concerning the Real Presence of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament;

    when he then saw the Sacred Species of the wine flow over the chalice and fall onto the corporal in the form of living Blood, and thus the corporal remained soaked. It cannot be told how great was his emotion and perturbation of mind in that instant in the face of such a profound event...

    Past Performance: Why Failed Ideas Succeed Later

    in Technology

    A decade and a half ago, WebVan, a same-day grocery delivery service, crashed and burned in what was probably the most spectacular failure of the original dot-com bust. Many lessons were learned from the Webvan story, but were they the right lessons? Today Amazon, Wal-Mart and others are scaling up same-day delivery while a company like Deliv might just be the next Uber.

    What happened? What changed?

    Hosts Phil Bowermaster and Stephen Gordon explore some of the possible differences between the world of WebVan and our world by looking at some interesting current news items:

    Transformed Traveler welcomes Pauline Frommer

    in Lifestyle

    The Transformed Traveler discusses sensory travel with the incomparable Pauline Frommer.

    The Frommer family has made a lasting mark on how we travel. From generation to generation, their family's focus on our enjoyment as travelers has literally changed the landscape of the $15 trillion travel industry.

    In 1957, Arthur Frommer, a young corporal in the U.S. Army, wrote a travel guide for American GIs in Europe, and then produced a civilian version called Europe on $5 a Day.[3] The book ranked popular landmarks and sights in order of importance and included suggestions on how to travel around Europe on a budget. It was the first travel guide to show Americans that they could afford to travel in Europe. Arthur Frommer returned to the United States and began practicing law. During that time, he continued to write and also began to self-publish guidebooks to additional destinations, including New York, Mexico, Hawaii, Japan and the Caribbean. Call into 646-727-2255 and talk live with Pauline Frommer.
