"Election Day in Canada - The Rise of Voter Suppression" opens on the route Stephen Harper walked to work less than 24 hours after the CPC election win on May 2, 2011. He never walks to work but on this day the re-elected Prime Minister of Canada, who 36 days earlier fell on contempt of Parliament, revels in his first "majority" government. In less than 2 weeks Elections Canada investigators will be on the ground in Guelph, Ontario investigating a voter suppression scheme that will result in a national outcry, spark court actions, shake the country's confidence in its electoral system, and government.
This film examines the history and dramatic rise of voter suppression in Canada beginning in 2006 and how Elections Canada was blindsided from the CPC government's "Accountability Act" to the first record of "robocalls" during the 2008 Federal election. Other red flags in the lead up to 2011 were the 2010 Vaughan byelection, followed by the 41st General Election, the aftermath, Council of Canadians court trials, the Michael Sona trial and the scrapped "robocalls" investigation. RackNine, Matt Meier, claims of ignorance from candidates and the "Fair Elections Act" figures in as the film moves through the timeline and travels from Prince Edward Island to Whitehorse.
Peter Smoczynski is a Montreal born, trained and working filmmaker; journalist, researcher, field producer, CBC national news, current affairs, sports and short docs; Los Angeles trained and working screen writer. "I’ve cooked meals for my crews, conducted interviews in penthouses and boxcars, and had cabinet ministers slam the door in my face. It really is a crazy profession. I wouldn’t have it any other way."

The Jeju Peace Forum was founded in 2001 with the goal of contributing to world peace and international cooperation in the East Asian sphere through multilateral dialogue and community building.
The 2003 edition of the conference included President Roh Muu-hyun's official apology to Jeju Island for the 4.3 massacre and the 2007 Jeju Declaration envisioned a regional peacekeeping diplomatic role for South Korea based on the Helsinki Process.
In 2008, with the election of the hardline right-wing Lee Myung-bak government, the foreign affairs ministry changed the name of the conference to The Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity and shifted focus away from co-operative agreements, bringing in big name speakers on themes unrelated to the peace process.
A glance at the list of events, workshops and speakers from the 10th Forum held last May, full of washed-up politicians and discredited neoliberal economic themes, suggests a conference in search of an identity.
Darren Southcott, editor-in-chief of The Jeju Weekly magazine, joins The Korea File to discuss whether or not the Forum has stayed true to it’s roots as a regional peace initiative.

Does drama elect candidates who can serve the country? State and Local Governments? Will money choose elected officials? Or will each citizen vote their concious? The apparent levels of frustration experience due to more attentions paid to Wall Street and their Lobbyist has meant the average citizen for decades has been forgotten.
Will Koch Brother money, Trump Celebrity driven campaign, Hillary Clinton becoming first women President, or Bernie Sanders speaking out for the common person make it to the electorial finish line?
Have any candidates running for the Presidency address issue important to you? Where do they stand on Insured Civil Rights Legislation? Will they support a Bill which protect Insurance Policyholders? Or will they stand silent as Wall Street continues to delay and deny benefits to Insured who've paid premiums to these corporations?
