This edition of A Kind Voice on Music shines the spotlight on Kentucky native Lisa Oliver Gray. This Nashville singer is often mistaken for Emmylou Harris on recordings and she's been on plenty. Lisa has sung backup for the likes of Tommy Womack, Will Kimbrough, and Marshall Chapman. She is an active and in demand session singer in the Nashville area. But that's just one of the many sides of Lisa Oliver Gray, host Mitch Ruth will chat with Lisa about her musical adventures and her charity work on behalf of the homeless and a special local animal shelter. He may even get to broach a delicate subject for Kentuckians, "Which goes best with your barbecue, Ski or Ale 8?

"Bruceploitation - A cultural phenomenon mostly seen in the 1970's & early 80's after the 1973 death of martial artist and actor Bruce Lee. A portmanteau of the name "Bruce" and exploitation, it refers to the practice on the part of filmmakers in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan who hired Bruce Lee look-alike actors ("Lee-alikes") to star in many cheap knock-off martial arts movies to cash in on Lee's success after his death."
Join us as our guest will be film maker Nick Nielsen and we will be talking about his documentary about those actors that filled the void that legendary Bruce Lee left after his passing.
Check out his Kickstarter campaign for this documentary.
Our show this week features founding member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Randle Chowning. We'll be discussing his upcoming recording project, how crowdsource funding is aiding established rock and roll legends and hear of his adventures both in and out of the Daredevils. Host Mitch Ruth will strive to ask the pertinant question,"Would you like fries with that?"
Our special guest on A Kind Voice on Music is the wonderful Upstate Rubdown. These folks are a diverse group of musicians dedicated to creating fun acoustic pop music, with creative rhythms and harmonies. The band combines backgrounds in Jazz, Gospel, Folk, Bluegrass, Latin, Show Tunes, and Classical music, with a shared love of Soul, Motown, and classic R and B, to create a uniquely enjoyable sound. Imagine the Lennon Sisters meet Mumford and Sons with Bob Willis and The Texas Playboys to have sixteen espressos then listen to Django Rienhart albums. Let the dancing begin!
Host Mitch Ruth will ask members of the group about busking, upstate New York winters, their current projects. With luck, he will also seek an answer to the eternal question, "Where did my drink go?"

Today, our kind voice comes from the hands of classical pianist, Sylvia Berry. Sylvia has been playing instruments since the age of 11. Her musical gift led her to graduate from the renowned High School for Creative & Performing Arts in Philadelphia, PA. After high school, Sylvia traveled the world gaining two degrees and performing as a soloist and chamber musician while growing her love for the historic fortepiano. Our host, Kenny Fulton, will be discussing Sylvia's knowledge of this classical instrument as well as showcasing music from her album entitled "Haydn London Sonatas".
A discussion about the new year and how movies can teach us values and philosophies that we can carry into our regular lives. What does the movie Step Up 2: The Streets have to do with becoming a better person while chasing your dreams? We'll try to figure that out.

Kenny Fulton will interview Jaimze; lead singer from indie group, KING CORAL. The group from Seattle, WA just formed a few months ago and are already halfway towards producing their first album. Ranked #1 in their region by Reverbnation, their sound goes back to the late 70s-early 80s to capture that musical exuberance from that time. A quote from their band page says "We want to produce songs that tell great stories and that engage our listeners". Now, they bring their story to "A Kind Voice".
